Kodi playback issues - Stupid Android TV?

I just transcoded and it seems to have stopped the playback freezes

If all your files need to be transcoded you might as well auto convert if you have a server that can handle.

I do - What a nightmare

Out of interest - Am I able to add my own config line ?

Maybe something like 'My1080p' and I put the mmpeg somewhere in the config? That was I can state the preset/crf

Sub would need to answer that but there is some configuration available in the settings. Post processing would give you more control no point in recording SD at 1080p

Yeah; I had a quick look but didn't find any easy scripts

Presumably you can do what you want with the script method

I don't particularly like having to transcode, so fine tuning for SD/HD differently would be useful. Setting the higest crf/profile I can get away with too

This damn stupid TV....

Unfortunately I've had to switch to transcoded TV due to intermittent freezing. Both Kodi/UiDroid.

This can be a little slow changing channel. Do you know if there is a secret variable in the config that can lower the initial startup time?

It won't be any faster than the web browser and probably a little slower. Personally I'd give up on using the built in Android TV and try a standalone box. TV's have lots of inputs.

TVHeadend remuxes on input you might give it a try too. It might even transcode and it could be a little faster.

It's basically a series of trade offs - I've plenty of issues with TVH

It would be nice to have a simple set up with just the TV - But given that live TV appears to give me playback issues wherever it is from...

The really annoying part is that this stupid device can have direct play for long stretches of time without any issues whatsoever - Other times - Bam - Constant freezes

Having tried - The transcode seems to be working well - It just takes about 10 seconds to start

I don't suppose there is anything in config.xml that can change that time ? Bitrate has no effect

If it already using VAAPI not really. If you are using the transcoded/timeshfited in Kodi maybe turning off timeshfiting that is writing to your Android TV.
