Anyway, it's quite possible that the xmltv.dll, by removing the offset, is messing with the grand scheme of things. But I can't really deal with the dates, and the offset until they are correctly exposed to me....
I think that this is definitely part of the problem.

Frankly, I don't understand how any of the dates in the listings are correct.

The new look is more straight forward to me. I like it. I noticed two things:
1) There appears to be an unexplained/extra browse button on the TS tab.
2) What are the tweaks on the Maint tab? Now I want to use them!

One of the releases yesterday or the day before was not correctly marking new shows unless the detection was set to "SD - xmltv", but the latest release is working again set to "auto".

Extra browse button finds and deletes your windows 3.1 wini.ini file... I wouldn't play with it.

Seriously, sorry... It was a temporary admin tweak that wasn't supposed to make it into release...

What does tweaks do. Well, it's so I can be lazy. It runs through the database and forces pre-padding, post-padding and quality for all sheduled recordings.

It's so I can make sure that my minimum is immediately implemented... (If I adjust it in gb-pvr config, then older scheduled shows don't get changed...)

Here my 2 cents on the new layout…
Overall I like it better than before (it sounds like most people do). Don’t take any of this the wrong way. It’s all intended as suggestions to make a better product. Since it’s only 2 cents you can always just through it away and not be out much. Smile

Initial window when launched
I don’t really like the info and buttons displayed at the top. It looks like they are just floating out there. Maybe it would look better with a Group box or something around them.

Main window after clicking on a tab
It seems to be getting too long. If you are using 1024x768 for your screen size it goes from top to bottom, provided you only have 1 row for your Taskbar – otherwise it won’t fit on the screen. If it need to be this large then it might be an idea to have scroll bars in the tab and fix the length of the window a little smaller. (I don’t think a windowed application should require full height or full width of a screen without scroll bars). When looking at all of the tabs it looks like there may be the option to reduce the length on the window a little more so it would fit better.

Status tab
I like the group boxes but there is still some info in the middle and the right that seems to be orphaned. I think it might be better to group these. Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced.

Tags tab
Looks good. Possible add scroll bars to the Sample Info section and then move items up on the right (there’s white space under ‘Zehd’s Picks’ that could be reduced). This would allow for this tab to be reduced in length.

Misc. tab
Looks good other that there are some fields that seem to be orphaned again. If they were grouped I think it would help. Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced.

Season/EP Lookup tab
Looks good other that there are some fields that seem to be orphaned again. If they were grouped I think it would help. While it might be a little tight I think ting could be move up a little so the length of this tab could be reduced.

Cache tab
Top 1/3 looks OK but the bottom 2/3 looks awkward and there seems to be some fields orphaned again. Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced (possibly with rearranging the button at the bottom).

Channels tab
It looks like it needs some work. What’s up with ‘Button8’ in the middle and the grid with no columns? Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced.

Maint tab
Looks good except for the lonely buttons at the bottom of the tab. They seem to be out of place. Is the Logging group better suited on this tab or would it be better on the TS tab. For me I think logging is more related to troubleshooting than maintenance. Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced.

TS tab
Seems to be a lot ‘things’ happening on this tab and it doesn’t seem to flow very well. Possible grouping could help like on the Maint tab. There seem to be an orphaned field (Rewrite XML) at the bottom. There seems to be a duplicate browse button in the middle. I’m not sure what this is for because the tooltip for both are the same. Also, there seems to be lots of white space so the length of this tab could easily be reduced.

Maint/TS tabs
In looking at the 2 tabs it almost seem like the names are reversed. I think there need to be some work done on defining what are maintenance items and what are troubleshooting items.

Other items
As a possible alternative to moving item up on the tabs to reduce the length of the window, what about making the window wider to better accommodate the items better?

Do you what spelling mistake pointed out? I’m no expert in spelling but I think I’ve noticed a couple in tooltips.

Now for my #1 peeve…when you click on a tab it always re-centers the window. Can anything be done about this? I’m fine with the window launching in the center. But most times I have multiple windows open and like to place them in a particular location and when working in a window it gets annoying that when you click on a tab it will move your window. This forces me to move it back to where I want it and then when I click the next tab I have to move the window again.

I stopped doing that a lot of years ago. Now I use the 1280x1024 res monitor and the taskbar to switch windows. I can change it so once the window is expanded it doesn't 'adjust' itself again.

I haven't consider a 1024x768 monitro for a long while, but since I'm also considering Dial-up...

There are many tabs that are too obvious that are under construction. That's why I thought it was a good idea to hide many of them for public release...

I'm going to be sitting with this for a little while as I adjust things in my head. Because it is turning into a 'Config' window, rather than a manual tool, I have a bit of playing. It's probably going to be a bit messier before it's finished

Hang tight

edit:
I would like you guys to keep updating as I release, so you can make sure it's not getting broken along the way...

Thanks for putting up with us who are on limited but and ancient hardware (CRT monitor, dial up, etc.) or maybe I’m the only one.

I had forgotten to mention that I know a lot of those tabs are under construction, but I still wanted to give some feedback on them anyways. I like the idea of hidding them in the release version.

Regarding updating…just keep letting us know there’s a new version is available and I’m sure we’ll be glad to update and keep testing. Each version keeps getting better and better - minus a few hiccups.

Once again thanks for all you hard work!

Frank, in the process where you append the original air date to the description, try using ToLocalTime() when you make the date call.

Code:
myp.Description += " (" + myp.OriginalAirDate[B].ToLocalTime()[/B] + ") "

This will apply the local timezone offset on the descriptions and still keep the program information in universal time.
Modify to whatever you are using for date and formatting of course.

This new version shows the date at the end of the listng description to be the date of the show rather than the "next" day as before.

Like you pointed out before, since this is a movie, shouldn't the description in the listing show the year the movie was released (contained in the <date> record) rather than a particular day in the year when it is being shown?

Yes. And I will be working toward that when I get all the date stuff working...
