It did, thx.

It was interesting to see. You brightness/contrast is obviously set higher, or more like the default settings I reduced. I raised mine a little last night just slightly, but it would still be darker than yours. But that's intentional on my part, and if I used those settings, non-animated bright-color video would just wash out entirely.

That aside, w/o nitpicking every aspect, the images seemed roughly the same. Your bitrate is a little higher, and your image is deinterlaced. That will clean it up some. You still had some dot crawl, but only around the adult swim logo noticeably. You did have this black line that rolled down the screen (very slight...you can make it out a little in the 3rd image at eye level). I couldn't tell if that may just be from the cable signal.

Overall, it was worth seeing because it made me happy w/ the quality of my recording. If you like yours, then you should be happy it's better the way you like it (I like a little more dark, so mine suits me better). I appreciate you making the effort to make the swap.

I attched a cpl of crude side-by-side shots (mine left, yours right) just so people can see what we were seeing and talking about (since I'm guessing you'll unlink your vid clip eventually, too).

Btw, one thing you can do for your sound is raise it from 44Khz to 48Khz. I do other post-processing, but that alone may give you more range.

Again, thx for sharing.

The scrolling is from having too many splitters for cable jacks around my house i believe since some of my tv's have it around the house...so its the signal.
(aka basement doesnt because its more direct from the line while the upstairs bedrooms dont ) we have like 30 something tv jacks around the house and only like 9 tv's hooked up lol.
You see 2 lines rolling on the tv... when 1 is just making it over the top it immediately gets put at the bottom so theres 2 lines always dragging on my main tv set - but in the basement and in 1 bedroom i get no lines at all...
It could be because there newer tv's too....which could those sets filter that.
Yah i got the dot crawl just like you when i cut the film that short...it had no crawl if i didnt cut and left it in gbpvr.. but i couldnt well post up a 1.3gb file.
Yah this makes me happier with the quality of my picture i thought i was getting a bum deal.. now i know its just because im on a flat screen computer moniter not a tv and im really getting good quality if i make minor adjustments.
Can you tell me how i change from 44-48 like you said?

When you edit the quality profile settings, you'll see the audio adjustment.

Are you sure you have it for live and medium? I only point it out because the clip was only 44Khz. Unless you reencoded it down, that's how it was recorded.

Maybe that's where it was changed, then. I only use Live & Medium, even though I think he fixed where you couldn't use the other settings easily.

If use some program that will give you the propeties for the original recording, and it's at 48Khz, then it is.

I said your's was high-er. 4700 to my 4500. I was using variable at the time, too, w/ a lower range. I actually just changed it to 4700 CBR. I noticed my VBRs are taking a lot longer to reencode to xvid.

What volume do you use on your tv sets...?
For soft while im in bed watching tv its at 18/50
for viewing in living room during day is about 5/8ths of max
and according to that screenshot mines 3500 bitrate... unless its really set to high and it just shows medium every time i open after i save trying to change settings..

I use a home theater receiver, so it's direct pass-through to the stereo. The volume on the system is just set to max.

I do have the max vol on the line in set down in the tv card settings, but I have the post-processing (ffdhsow) that I used to prepare the audio stream (send 5.1 channels, convert non-tv audio like divx files to 48Khz, etc) amplify it a little (20%).

Your rate is a VBR between 3500 and 7200 according to your shot, of which 4700 would be around an average of that.
