What exactly did the error message say? I cant find it in the logs you posted.

I wonder if the fact that Windows Defender created a Restore Point at 1:01 am on the 3rd and 4th is significant?? WD is set to scan at 2:00 am so wonder what triggered it at 1:00 am??

I don't think, Windows Defender has to do something with that, look i have the same entry (only one time) and am NOT using Windows Defender.

Thats not the same error. The message is different.

Lindsay, I dont really know. I'm sure if you had the Microsoft CLR Debugger on your machine, it'd probably tell us exactly why the error is occuring (which class/argument/method is causing the problem) - but thats a big hassle to install.

On the conversion tab of the config app, do you have any auto conversions enabled?

Yes, auto convert dvr-ms to mpeg was ticked. I didn't do this myself (honestly!). Is it possible the 97-9 install set this? I have set it to no conversion.

Checked on my saved 96.12 config.xml. It, also, had the dvr-ms to mpeg set.
