- 17" monitor at 1280 x 1024, 32 bit, 75Hz.
- TV (on s video) at 1024 x 768 (according to windows.. not sure about this), 32 bit, 60 Hz.

I could play with stepping it down a bit, though I did try reducing the settings on the monitor previously which didn't help.

Do you think I should try and find an older driver?

yeah i dont know why windows thinks svideo should be that
i would set it to 720x576 at 50hz or 100hz if your tv can handle it
you can add cutom resolutions if the reolution isnt there
some versions of the drivers worked well with custom resolutions and some dont i cant remember which ones did and which ones dont

screen reolutions tab to add them

Have you tried the updated Quartz.dll file available from the Microsoft update site? It usually had to do with starting and stopping the video, but it also has to do with the interlace, which causes a stuttering of the video. It couldn't hurt. Do a search on here for Quartz.dll
IBM P4, 3Ghz with 1GB RAM
500GB Storage (on this one), HVR-1600 capture card
ATI-1050 256MB, and more as I think it up!
OK, I finally bought a HD TV. Glad I had some stuff recorded to watch!

IF you upgrade mobo/cpu you will be able to move to pci-e video which is cheaper. It all depends what money you have lying around.

Currently I am running a am2 4800+ with a asus m2n (i think) mobo and a 7300gs passive video card, as I won, thats right won a 42" screen i am thinking of upgrading the video card to drive the panel better

Matey, I'm using dvb-t with a Radeon 9600 Pro via AGP on a PC of similar spec to yours and don't have any performance issues, although I only have one tuner onboard. I can still watch an xVid or DVD at the same time without screwing up the recordings though Smile

Might be worth scouring ebay for a similar card? Or an ATI x1600 or something. Not sure how it translates currencywise, but you can get an x1650 for about forty quid in the UK, which translates to a reasonable night out on the beers Big Grin

For info I am using dvr-ms with the Nvidia decoder and AC3Filter for sound.

Tried them both recently just for the experience.....Kubuntu and Linvdr, but didn't get any pictures out. Suspect a bigger learning curve

I just priced up a machine based on seeing someone here has an AMD 4200 AM2 CPU... What do you think of the specs? Will it perform?

AMD Dual Core 4200+ AM2 CPU $85.00
Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G nVIDIA C51G+430 ATX $166.50
2GB DDR2-800 PC2-6400 SDRAM $44.55
Seagate 500GB 7200rpm SATA $131.89
Asustek Extreme EN8500GT Silent GeForce 8500 GT 512MB DDR2 PCIe-16 graphics card $126.99
500 Watt PSU, ATX $47.62
Midi Tower Case No PSU $32.00

I already have the Hauppauge HVR3000.

ooh, is my current windows CD going to install on this machine? looking at the "64" on the gigabyte site.. i'm such a noob at this stuff! That said, I'm sure I could assemble it and get it working.
