interesting....my 950 doesn't run that hot...and doesn't have any fan on it..
then again, probably i have much better airflow/heatsink than an itx case...
i would probably squeeze a larger fan on it if it were a problem, but 20w wouldn't make me worry too much, after all, it is both chipset and video card...

have any links to that review?

looking at tech specs, you are right, GMCH[video chip] is with fan...
no tv connectors either...i musta been looking at the G965 board...:o

Natürlich haben wir es nicht unversucht gelassen, und den Lüfter des Chipsatzkühlers deaktiviert. Dabei ist das Überwachen der Temperaturen alles andere als einfach, denn fast jedes Tool zum Auslesen der Temperaturen zeigt andere Werte an, etablierte Programme wie etwa Speedfan zeigten einen um etwa 30°C geringeren Wert als im BIOS an. Daher haben wir mit dem Temperatur-Messgerät selbst am Kühlkörper nachgemessen. Nach gerade mal 5 Minuten ohne aktive Kühlung stieg sowohl die Chipsatz-Termperatur als auch die CPU-Temperatur auf Werte über 60°C an (Chipsatz: 67 °C CPU: 63°C). Mit aktiver Kühlung betragen die Werte 34,5°C bzw. 38°C. Da wir am Kühlkörper gemessen haben, sollten die tatsächliche Temperaturen sogar noch ein Stück darüber liegen. All diese Werte wurden unter Vollast während eines Burn-In-Tests gemessen. Von einer passiven Kühlung des Chipsatzes ist also (insbesondere in Gehäusen ohne Lüfter) abzuraten, da bereits nach wenigen Minuten ein starker Temperaturanstieg unter Vollast zu verzeichnen war.

quick & dirty translation:
we tried disabling the fan, encountered some problems measuring temps, different tools showed different temps, i.e. speedfan showed temps 30° lower than bios for the chipset. we mounted a temp-sensor on the heat sink. after 5 min with no fan under full load, we had the following temps: chipset 67°C, CPU 63°C compared to 34,5°C / 38°C with fan. as we measured on the heat sink, the real temps will be above that. the temps were gained during a burn-in test (full load). we discourage from passive cooling (especially in fanless cases)...

so i see they are for sale now, anyone tried a dg45fc yet? only $120 at Dell...
i'll be getting one soon...will probably put it in a regular box till i can either make or find a suitable tiny box..

from the looks of the driver, last 10 or so have only been improvements on the 45 chipset [check the last several driver changelogs] and almost nothing for others..[!?]
i couldn't even get the newest drivers to work right on my g965 at all...had to roll back to 2kxp-1434 to get any acceleration...

still have great performance with my 965 so unless it's worse, it has to be good enough for 1080p and has hdmi built in..

just wondering if the dvi is dvi-i or just dvi-d.. [so i can use dvi-vga adapter]
