I just want to express my support for you Martin (no matter how much other people dont care), and I would like to tell you that I really appreciate your work, and the wonderful functionality that it delivers.

Great work Sub and Martin. Same for me here. Using GBPVR now for quite a while (2 may 3 years) and recently expanded to the PCH. Not because this product is superb, but could be with killerapps like mvpmcx2 and GBPVR.

Keep up the good work. Really appreciate it.

Yeah, it really is a fantastic piece of software to make the PCH much more user-friendly.
My partner is keen on watching shows on it, as it seems to be clearer / brighter than via my PC (over VGA).

It would be a pity if all of the development had to be stopped to satisfy a particular piece of the net community who will jump on any perceived GPL licence violation they can (but are probably running stolen / cracked versions of all their other software)

I saw that same guy having a go at someone else about GPL in the forums, I think it was at Syabas for not open-sourcing their firmware. (although, I think they are within rights, as some of the SDK stuff belongs to sigmatel)

Thanks again for your time & effort here.

Development will not stop, but since I now await Syabas releasing information, GPL discussions do become more important which is one of the main reasons I want to avoid the slightest question of hypocrisy warranted or not. If Syabas and Sigma Design (a lost cause) were to release code all the code they are obligated too, I likely would be able to produce a better product.

Sigma was accused of copying the Xvid code a while back.
They probably arn't too keen on releasing any code again because of that.

Just a coincident, but a funny thing. Syabas just dropped this email in by box. It contains a link to the GPL'ed source code of their stuff:

At first glance, I can't see too much that is going to help. Obviously having some of the kernel source will make hacking easier but I don't think this addresses any of my immediate needs. I might now be able to address an issue with the 601/709 colour space that perhaps is stopping some monitors from getting the best resolution but that's about it.

I guess what would really help is getting the source of all the NMT apps, right?
Isn't that code also GPL? I would guess they haven't started coding from absolute scratch either. Most advanced code is based on something from the start. And in the Linux world much of that is GPL or similar...
