An interesting development occurred tonight re: index_sd.htm / index.htm, a friend of mine decided to download it & try it on his M34a & no matter what he tried couldn't get it to load automatically so having my phone number gave me a phone call.

After running through all the normal diagnoses procedures I started to wonder what was different with his setup to mine, as we both got out NMT's in the same shipment they should be the same model etc. The only thing I could think of apart from him having a HD TV therefore he had to rename the script to index.htm which he had done, was I had done a firmware update & he hadn't so he did an update (1/2 an hour later for it to finish) & after a re-boot it automatically loaded fine.

So I guess if it doesn't work for you one of the things to check is you have the latest firmware installed on your NMT.

Jaggy Wrote:my Hauppauge remotes (MVP & MCE style) both work fine from 14 feet away as long as I have the unit straight in line or slightly kinked to the right (looking at it from the front) but if it gets kinked to the left even only slightly the Hauppauge remote won't work at all.
Found this thread on the NMT forum. Looks like it is an issue that can be "cleared up". Rolleyes
I wonder if it might be an issue with a refurb that has been improved on new builds.
What, me worry?

Thanks roy that is an interesting thread, I hope I won't need it but hopefully I will find out sometime this week when I get the A100's unpacked & tested.

BTW it was late last night when I posted my reply & I got my right & left muddled up...what I posted was totally back to front :o

Come on guys I need some more feedback (one is not enough) from the ones of you that have tested the index_sd.htm scripts I uploaded before I am willing to commit to the wiki.

ANY feedback good or bad would be great.

Works for me...PCH owner of less than a week I was a bit scared of breaking my otherwise trouble free initial install.

Thanks Elmo Putney, now that makes four of us that I know are using it without problems, a few more comments would be nice before I commit it. BTW are you using SD or HD?

I can totally understand that feeling, but that was why I put this sentence in my post Wink

Jaggy Wrote:It is no big deal if it does decide not to work as I have left the GB-PVR.html script in my mvpmc share so all I have to do is remove the index_sd.htm script & it is back the way it was.

I have been amazed at how simple most things seem to be now I have started experimenting with what can be done, originally I was daunted by all the messages of users having problems before I bit the bullet & purchased my first NMT but since then I have reevaluated what I was reading before & realize most of those posts (about 95% I would say) are users having share problems.

I am not using your index file, but I am using one spawned from the same file and it works just fine. (mine was posted a few days ago). I am on HD so I use index.html

I think it is a great addition and very simple as you noted.

I think another great addition to the wiki would be a step by step example of the share helper utility that martin put together. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43067 I am sure a lot of users have recordings on a series other network places than just the server. I got lost in the setup and have not gone back to see if I can make this work yet.

The beauty of configuring skins, html files, and scripts for the NMT is that unlike a PC all of us share exactly the same setup. I'm really glad index.html is working out so well now.

I think it is a combination of not being able to set up a share and not following the dummies guide completely. The number of real problems from people who actually see the mvpmc share as HOSTNAME:mvpmc on their NMT is very small.

Sorry about forgetting you in that post, actually I remembered right after I pressed submit but was in a bit of a hurry at the time so didn't go back to edit it....sorry.

I have now read that thread three times & am no less confused than I was the first time.......but I will (time permitting) have a play with it sometime in the near(sh) future & see if it means more to me after playing with it.

Yes I find this interesting, but it would be nice to have a "tad" more feedback from users that have been using it for more than one or two days, I wonder if what I found with my friends NMT & the firmware version could have something to do with it now (seemingly) working fine but not for you in the past?

I guess the ShareHelper xml is not as self explanatory as I thought and if you are used to sharing using the mouse it might be tough If any of you don't understand post a message on the thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43067 explaining what you want to achieve and hopefully you can use the reply as an example for the wiki.
