Yeh I took that all the wrong way. Thanks guys, please populate the list as I said in previous post a couple of days to get the definitions/abbreviations sorted then will work on adding to Wiki.

Thanks Jaggy, me a bit under strain too, it sucks!

Hmmm I didn't quite mean it like that..... even though that is probably not a bad definition of it (in it's purest sense). It is probably a NZ saying that isn't used in other parts of the world. It was meant to be a bit more "why do the same thing over & over when you can do it once & then edit it to your liking" but I now wish I hadn't said anything Sad

Is that a sort of why try to re-invent the wheel thing!

I'm glad you said something, it is great to have criticism, but I wouldn't want to do it over and over, editing the Wiki pages is very laborious and it is just nice to sort of get it right 1st time, go on add some entries to my list of points. You know you want to Big Grin

Best Cheers

Attached a draft,

please feel free to add/amend but make it trackable, most stuff knicked from Whurlston. If more than one sentence or 2 why not just create a whole .txt for it and it can have its own page on a link. if necessary.

could also link to wikipedia pages on most of this stuff for real in depth definitions and whitepaper reference links..[i thin there's a definition of what ATSC stands for, etc.]
these terms are so general that they are unlikely to be wrong there..

Codec - enCOder or DECoder. In gbpvr's case, directshow filters only...
.ax - directshow filter. Can be almost anything, codecs, muxes, capture device drivers, etc..

maybe add Directshow, Directx, Renderer, VMR, FSE, Interlacing/deinterlacing, colorspace, DXVA, comskip, EWA, Client modes, streaming/filesharing...

need to come up with a term for the server in a client mode setup, and separately the client running on the host server..[local client and host server? local interface and host service?]

just a few thoughts..
i can supply definitions if need be for any of those..
i would try to keep them at one liners and a link for more detail if available..
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie

Yep was thinking could do this for the more complex stuff!

I haven't added your latest ideas, please feel free to add them to the attached :p

Also I haven't got around to populating all the terms with detail yet so if any jump out at you with a need to add a description I don't mind Wink Also if you think any of the current descriptions could be better?

I think after any additions to this current list that will probably do for a 1st attempt at something.

As for the one liners definitely that is what I was hoping, just needs to be a quick reference for anyone unfamiliar with a certain term.

If you do feel like a 'tweak' could you save edited text as pbs.txt or something like that so I don't get mixed up

Cheers
