I've also been playing around with dslibbluray, an open source DirectShow BD navigation filter and I have to say, I'm quite impressed with it. I'm able to get full menus with non java discs. For java discs, I can just enable AnyDVD HD's speed menus.

Results of tests with LAV video decoder:
I get a green screen when switching between m2ts files but once the video starts, it plays perfectly. DXVA2 (copy-back) stutters but DXVA2 (native) works. Disabling NV12 output solves the green screen issue.

Interestingly, dslibbluray + LAV Video uses 10% of the CPU power that LAV Splitter + LAV Video does:
dslibbluray + LAV Video = 2-3% CPU
LAV Splitter + LAV Video = 25-30% CPU

Apperently, the LAV splitter is not as efficient as I thought.

Other tests with dslibbluray:
Arcsoft Video Decoder = stuttering video
Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD11) w/ HAM = stuttering video
Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD11) w/ DXVA = perfect playback with 6% CPU
Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder = perfect playback with 2% CPU.

Actually, those settings seem to result in all subtitles appearing, not just the forced ones. Is that happening for you too?

Definitely not for me. Is it happening on all discs?

I've only tested Avatar and Star Trek I so far. I'll try some tonight that I know don't have any forced subs and see what they do. And also try to find some docs on exactly what those settings in LAV mean...

Is that the new Star Trek? I have that disk I can test.

No, it's the first of the original (Kirk era) movies. I have the new one too, although it doesn't have any forced subtitles to my knowledge. The discs I have with forced/player generated subs (where I've had to extract them to srt) are:

Avatar, Captain America, Final Fantasy VII, all the LOTR extended editions (I believe these have burnt-in subs in the US), Star Treks I, III, V, and VI, and Toy Story 3.

I have Captain America. You wouldn't happen to have a timestamp for a forced sub would you? (Been a while since I watched it). No big deal if not.

Right at the start, when the Nazis enter the (Swedish/Norwegian?) church looking for the power orb thingy.

Edit: 3m 51s onwards.

Nope. I only get the forced subs. Do you have anything entered in the "Subtitles:" text field of the LAV splitter settings (like "eng")? If so, that is forcing LAV to load that subtitle track by default. It should be left blank.

If I take the eng stuff away I get no subtitles at all again. Don't worry about it for now...I can't experiment properly until the weekend so chances are I'm doing something wrong.
