Would it be possible to have the installer stop the recording service and kill NPVR and Ntray? I can't think of a downside, but I have no idea of the capabilities of the installer.

Post support issues like this in the Support forum.

All I know to do is "Right-Click" the icon in the task bar tray and tell that to Exit.

If there is something else that needs to be stopped, can you be blunt and tell me what that is?

That just stops the tray icon utility, not the recording service.

Just use the 'Stop NPVR Service' short cut that was installed with NextPVR. It stops everything it needs to stop. ie, the recording service and the tray icon.

you mean like this?
sub Wrote:If you're upgrading from a previous release, remember to make sure you stop NextPVR before running the upgrade, using the 'Stop NPVR Server' shortcut (or kill NTray.exe and stop the 'NPVR Recording Service' service).
How much more blunt can it be?

That's what I needed, as sub was able to point out a day before you.

I was Right-Clicking the tray icon to stop the services.

What I did not understand from the directions was that this link did anything different.

LOL - that's the question I just asked, too, so I'll share what I learned:

From the Start Menu, click Programs, then go into NPVR group. In that folder you will see 2 separate links: One to Start NPVR Services and another Stop NPVR Services.

You'd want the "Stop NPVR Services" option before running the installer.

sub, can you let us know when you update the installer again as I'm way behind on patches at the moment & would like to get up to date at some stage??

honestly most of the patches posted so far are diagnostic logging or fix a specific user's odd issue. I don't recall more than one or two patches that would be of general interest, and then only marginally so. I know the mantra on NextPVR has always been patches, patches, patches, but it just isn't that way any more. that said, there are a few open issues being worked on, once those matters are resolved and things settle down if sub doesn't see fit to re-roll the installer then I'll do some sort of patch-rollup zip.
