From a recording perspective, they're exactly the same for the application. For the playback side, it obviously needs an appropriate video decoder for the type of content you're trying to view. ie, either MPEG2 or H.264 video decoder.

To be honest, I've lost track of where you're at because your posts seem to be switching topics instead of just focusing on one thing at a time.

Sorry that you understand me in this way. What I try to do at this moment is to manage to have picture as live tv and play already recorded program nothing else. Because I am not familiar how it works I ask questions. Is there dependence between audio and video type of coding so if I choose correct decoder for video and my audio codec is incompatible to produce black screen.
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264) and Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 ) this is one of the TS files (HD) but as property in windows it shows as MPEG2 TS file. This is what I cannot understand.
Codec: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv) and Codec: MPEG Audio layer 1/2 (mpga) this is the other file which is SD.
Codec: MPEG-1/2 Video (mpgv) and Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52 ) this is from ATSC and I do not have problem with it perfect everywhere.
I can not solve these problems without your help.
Best Regards

Lets just focus on getting a picture when playing a recording first. If you can supply a short sample recording that wont play, I can check it is fine and plays in NextPVR (and check what the file contains etc)

All .ts files are an "MPEG2 Transport Stream" container. This flexible file format was defined when then created "MPEG2". This .ts container format can carry all sorts of content including MPEG2 video, H.264 Video, MPEG1 audio, AC3 Audio, EAC3 Audio, DTS audio, AAC audio, HE-AAC audio, subtitles, teletext, MHEG-5 and all sorts of other content. Older-school broadcasts (with a lot of legacy hardware out there) tend to use MPEG2 video in those .ts files. Newer broadcasters often use H.264 video, and often AAC audio.

Many of us use SAF. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049 SAF will install decoders that should work for all recordings in all locations. SAF will configure NextPVR to use these decoders. Send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the "unlocked" version and this will install additional decoders.

I'd need something longer than that 700k. Don't upload it here, just post the link to download it from somewhere like dropbox or onedrive or google drive. It needs to be a file you can't play there, so I can check it here.
