Slightly bigger bump.
Sorry Sub, I know V4 stuff is "Old Hat" and not your current focus but I'm getting constant grief from my better half as this problem seems to occur on a regular basis when skipping or all by itself in some programmes (like the sample I sent you for you to download).
Would be grateful if you could please take a look.
Ray.

Sorry, I haven't found a chance to take a look yet (between v5 and day job stuff). I'm hoping to get to it in the next couple of days.

Thanks. Fully understand Day job has to take precedence and with the V5 beta not enough hours in the day.

Just as additional info. We see the problem occur with both recorded .ts files and some imported .mp4 or .mkv files.

Playing the files in say Windows Media Player they're fine. It's only playback through NPVR that causes the jump to Fast Forward to occur.

That doesn't really make sense. When it comes to .mp4 or .mkv files, NextPVR isn't really involved in the playback. The NextPVR tsreader4 is only used for .ts files.

If you want to collect a log when this happens playing a .mp4/.mkv file, and let me know the approximate time it happened - I can check if there is any skip messages in the log. I do remember in the past we had one user with a wireless keyboard/mouse that was reporting NextPVR skipping without them doing anything, and when looking at the logs, we found their keyboard was actually generating spurious skip keys for some unknown reason. They changed to a wired keyboard and the problem went away. If you're seeing it with other file types, it does make me wonder if something weird like this might be happening, where it is actually trying to skip?

Alternatively, you're not running comskip?

Doh. Red Herring from me. We were working our way through the Lethal Weapon TV series where we had recorded most of it and had to download a few episodes that got missed. Based on what my wife told me, I believed the problem was with both the recorded and imported shows.

Detailed examination today shows me what I was told was erroneous. (but apparently it's all my fault anyway Rolleyes)

The problem is DEFINITELY with the .TS files.

I've now got another one that jumps into Fast forward at a specific time. Playing the file in WMP or the Microsoft Films & TV player causes both to hang at the same time point.
I ran a copy of the file through a Quick Stream Fix in VideoRedo and it will now play in WMP without it hanging.
I still have the original file if needed

Sorry for the  confusion

Yes please. I have an idea what might cause that.

Hi Sub. Any luck with the 2nd file you downloaded?

I'll take a look now.

Can you send me a screen shot of just before that issue happens, so that I know I'm look at approximately the right scene? I know you mentioned a specific time - but you'd be surprised just how much of an inaccurate science time is with .ts files, particularly when I don't have the timing.info that was created with the recording.

I've had a quick look at the file, but where the problem happens isn't obvious to me. I could have easily skipped over it though, because I can't just leave it playing at this stage (tying up my machine for 90 minutes)

My guess is that the broadcast clock just happens to wrap around during the recording. If that is the case, I can fix the playback behaviour in NextPVR, but I can't do anything about how other players deal with it.
