I probably will add something like this in a future release. Its pain in the butt the HDHomeRun guys chose to do their drivers a different way than every other manufacturer. Until this device, there was no good reason for the user to have a different bda.ini file.

(I've always asked users to let me know any new definitions they've added, so that aspect has never been a problem to date)

Not trying to hijack the thread but...

I'm working on a small app that will check for "installed" HDHomeRun bda drivers and append the appropriate entries to the bda.ini

I figured this would be the easiest thing to do since each person's entry would be different. I've already got it working, but I want to add checking for existing entries in the bda.ini so that someone doesn't add the entries 20 times for one device Wink

Once I get it complete, I will post a link in the hardware forum. If anyone has questions about it, post them in that forum as well (except sub, he can post where he wants Big Grin )

Was this missed on MVP? I set a few channels as favourites, and the channels skip as expected on my computer, but not on MVP.

It should be the same - it all runs the same code. I'll check it a little later.

NZ's Freeview digital TV service is about to launch here in eight weeks, including DVB subtitles. I should be able to find some time to look at it after that.

No problem, I can easily wait. Thanks again for a great piece of software (and great support as well)!

quick question... I'm a bit behind (ok, Waaaay behind, version 88 maybe? Dunno for sure, but I'm in the ballpark of a year out of date - hey it has been working well, why mess with it?) and am still using the version that used ms access databases and .Net 1.x. If I were to upgrade to this version, would it convert the database of existing recordings for me (including archived ones?) or do I manually re-import them, and if so is there a documented way to do this?

Ditto with my scheduled shows - in that xml file who's name I don't recall anymore.

To be honest I dont know - you're pretty much on your own on that one.

I only ever test upgrading from the last release, but it should work with with upgrading from the last few releases. From memory, it would only let you try to upgrade from v0.94 or higher, but even then I dont know what would happen. You can check your version number on the front page of the config app.

If you're running a really old release, you might be best to uninstall, delete the GB-PVR directory, then install the new version and set it up from scratch.

This is a good reason to stay current.

Ok, so let's assume I do the clean install. Is there a way to import my current crop of recordings? You used to be able to do this via a batch file that would dump the meta tags in the recorded files, and then import those in the config app.

wtg Wrote:Since this is an upgrade issue, I think this is the correct place to post. In the future, would it be possible for the upgrade to backup the user's bda.ini file? Once again I upgraded and forgot about this dumb file, and it wasn't until I realized my two recordings were showing in-progress but doing no more than taunting me and my stupidity that I realized it.

Maybe it's too uncommon an issue to deal with (certainly the HDHomeRun's requirements for this file are peculiar ), but I know occasionally others add items to their BDA.INI too and may not have yet shared the settings for you to add standardly.

Thankfully we both know I have a copy posted on the net somewhere. Smile I'm such a duffous.

I'm a duffous too. Big Grin
