JavaWiz Wrote:Ok, looks like somehow you are getting an old version of the WizUiHelper.DLL. Try this:
  • Shutdown PVRX2
  • Shutdown the recording services (Start-programs-gbpvr-Stop Recording Service)
  • Re-install SearchWizX2
  • Run config.exe and see if the problem goes away.

Yes the problem was the dll that was in the /gbpvr/ dir (probably from the earlier version install -- I did not have to reinstall SearchWizX2 to get the good results reported just a moment ago.

Excellent. Glad everything is working.

At some point, I will probably take the time to get this working under the community skins if Fatman_do doesn't get to it before me.

Like you, Fatman_do is another of the "too good to believe" people...

Considering the tremendous amount of thought and effort that you invested, both developing the plugin _and_ helping people like me get it working, I am reluctant to bring this up but hope that you accept it just as one person's viewpoint.

The navigation keys seem to have the opposite effect as the general functionality of the majority of other areas of GB-PVR/X2.

Not that one way is better than the other - just that the inconsistency within the GBPVR application is very difficult to adjust to for many people (the ones around me).

My 2cents,
TomH

EDIT: Ooops, should have included that this issue appears in the "Edit Filter" screen at the top (Searchby/Range/Times parameters) _and_ when a search result program is selected and you get the popup screen to make choices for choosing Recording/viewing options.

No problem, I'm glad you did bring it up, I'm always looking for ways to make the plugin more user-friendly.

I believe the issue you are raising is that on the Edit Filters dialog, the up/down arrows select the options, whereas the right/left arrows act more as tab buttons. I think what you are saying is the functions of these arrow keys should be reversed on this screen. Is that correct?

And if that is correct, the same holds true for the Schedule Recordings dialog, right?

Yes, pretty much those areas were identified in my EDIT to the initial post -- but I have not gone through every screen for consistency -- but will gladly do that if it would be of help to you.

Thanks for the great plugin, it is quite comprehensive and well thought out. I know there may be more important issues at the moment, but I was wondering if you had ever looked at the functionality of the "Show Search" plugin developed for earlier versions of GBPVR. I'm not sure if the author will continue to develop future releases and the old one doesn't appear to work in the latest version of PVRX2. His method of searching was lightning fast (for the user to input a show name using the remote) and I was wondering if you could consider the approach in a later release. I'm not sure what the method is called, but it basically replaces the SMS technique on the remote and speeds up searches quite considerably by scanning all letters associated with a number press for the first letter, the second letter in the show with the second key press, etc.

e.g. press "1" and the plugin searches for all shows beginning w/ "A","B", or "C" in the first letter of the show, then press "6" to find "M", "N", or "O" in the second character position in the show name, etc. It's a cleaver way to do quick searches and hope someone would continue using it. Thanks for your consideration.

I have considered doing this, but have not had the time to think it thru. As I make updates to the program I will consider adding this functionality.

JavaWiz,

Update: --running your 1.0.6 and upgrading to the CommunitySkin 3.0.1 has resolved the problems with my MVP crashing due to skin problems.

The consistent cursor keys operation is really great too.

This is just a great plugin -- now family members have their own custom searches saved (btw, the term 'filter' gets befuddled looks to newcomers) and couldn't be happier that all the keypressing os eliminated for their favorite searches.

Only outstanding items for me are
(1) the inability to clear a saved filter completely, so that an independant 'criteria' search can be performed (the "Clear" button will clear subqueries on the currently active filter, and clear a criteria search to allow another).
(2) memory consumption

Thanks for the great piece of work.

- I'll see what I can come up with for a 'generic' default filter (or clear) function off the main screen.
- I've resolved much of the memory problem in my current working version. I still have a couple things to check thru, but look for an update by the end of the week.
