I didn't think that any switches were needed once a .dat file was created, as per this bullet point from the Usage portion of the author's website:

That is why I used the full path in the -o switch on my initial run of mc2xml.

I'll try your suggestions when I can get the chance.

Thanks.

That bullet point means that if you run "mc2xml" from the same directory as the "mc2xml.dat" file, it will output to "xmltv.xml" file in that same directory if new listings are available, since those are all the defaults.

The mc2xml.dat file just saves your lineup preference and listings version number, not a custom output location of the xmltv file.

Mine works if you execute the updateEPG file manually, but I can't get gbpvr to do it. I really have not messed with it much though.

This is typical, because with the UpdateEPG.bat, you have to cd (change directory) to the folder holding mc2xml for the paths to be correct

when I run mythfilldatabase with the .xml file this script creates my server locks up. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I'm curious to see if this data is any better than the zap2xml listings.

I think all NA data comes from zap2it anyway so I expect the data is the same. The quality works fine for me. Perhaps it is a myth thing?

This should have more information. Zap2xml scrapes the website and this is almost a direct conversion of the raw data. And technically, the data comes from TMS, Zap2it's parent company.

whurlston, it seems there's a request for this...

Sorry to say, but I don't really have the time to dig into this. I know you're busy too, but maybe...

I've been using zap2xml with great success, but am interested in this because the listings are supposed to be a bit better. zap2xml, with the appropriate flags, also works directly with GB-PVR. Could someone answer:

1) Does the resulting output file from mc2xml work directly with GB-PVR, or do you have to run it through a post processor?

2) Are the new show indicators the same, e.g. "Stargate Atlantis *" would be a first run show? I note a /live tag flag for it, perhaps it is the same.

Thanks!

The mc2xml file is a valid xmltv file that can be automatically imported directly into GB-PVR just like most any other xmltv file.

However the data is exactly as it is formatted for Windows Media Center, and therefore does not have it's own New Show flags.

UltraXMLTV can be configured to add those flags without processing any of the other data, although many people like to change up the data display anyway, to include actors and episode numbers too, which are not displayed in GB-PVR naturally (GB-PVR does not use the extra info and is thrown away)
