The vast majority of EPG sources around the world just give the same generic descriptions for 90% of their shows, so the applications would just they assume they've been recorded in the past.
How about allowing the user to specify "Don't Record Duplicates" on a per-show basis rather than globally? That would allow the user to determine whether a given show uses sufficiently unique identifying marks for the feature to work. Maybe limit the matching to Title, sub-title (if present), and the first 20 characters of the description (which I believe you said often includes an episode title in many areas).

I use Schedules Direct myself, so I very much appreciate your planned support of the don't record duplicates feature for SD users. Just tossing out the idea...

I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, just a bit of background why it may not appear as one of the main priorities for a new beta release.
(it is possible that there are not so many reruns elsewhere so isn't seen as such a great problem as you seem to be having in the US. Big Grin)

You obviously don't record from cbeebies or kids progs on five!! Big Grin they show the same ones over and over again with the odd new one thrown in. So I've got ~150 Pepa Pigs recorded of which there at most 80 unique ones but it's not obvious where the repeats are to go through and delete them as I cant remember more than about 10 when I go through them...!

Nah, the nieces and nephews have grown up now, but in the days of VHS, duplicates were no problem - they happily watched the same three tapes over and over and over and over again.

Ok, Still You support meny features that are not usable by all. And don't record duplicates would need to be by show title anyway because people may want to see some shows again. Barny just never gets old to the wee ones now manter how much you wish it would. I guess I should have menchend but that is how I was thinking. and it was included in the one select statement. Smile

@Sub: Can we have teletext-subtitle support and/or .srt support in the next build?

These are on my to-do list, but I'm not sure what build they will appear in.

Before I start the yearly upgrade :-), just a question, does npvr support simultaneous recordings from encrypted channels using the new "native multidec support"?
I have 2 FloppyDTV DVB-C cards, and I'm currently using 1.3.11 with multidec...
