I'll have to wait a little bit before i can give feedback. My daughter has just captured my mediacentre and is playing "Knuckles and Sonic". -.-

good here too...
only channelname stays empty, tho CurrentFile says Ch0: no matter what channel it's on..
next rec and time is working fine tho..
[and time and duration are working great tooBig Grin]

i'll start putting together some nice smartie configs, now there's data to play with...Big Grin

Ok, after running into a configuration error of myself (forget to set pluginmode to iMON instead Registry) and a full timeshiftfolder of the server ( -.- ) i could it now get running.

Seems to work like a charm. But the wrong channel will be displayed. The plugin just displays "Ch0" on every channel. Smile

hate to be picky but the nextrecinfo msg is too long...i just use "Next:Title @time" to lessen scrolling..[ch not necessary, or use ch## not name]
and current recording too.. Big Grin could you surround current recording with ®? like "®Next:House@12:30pm®"
[remember, these will be added to 'currently playing' line so shortness is important]

oh and i thought better to have 1 next/now recording key, show next rec normally but replace with current recordings while they are recording...

i was even translating times to 12 hr am/pm format..[i hate to do math to figure it out after a glance to vfd..lol]

oh and another important thing, apparently the reg reader errors out if nothing at all is in a reg key..Sad
but i found one that doesn't error out with blank keys...
so i'm attaching here so don't have to register smartie forum just for this plugin..
oh and edit the .ini inside to around 2000ms

Exactly the same thoughts occured to me too. I'm hoping in the fullness of time we might get user configurable messages Smile
1 next/now recording key would be much better - then i only need to use one line on the VFD to get complete recording info.

actually you can do custom msgs now, there are a couple of smartie plugins that can do string replacement, even use special chars, using a list...[only fixed substrings]
then just make pairs of recieved msg = what you want it to be and it replaces them on fly...
or regex and search/replace plugins...but the list one is easily configged for multiples..

i've been looking at using picture plugin for nice little icons..[it can use animated gifs! and animate icon!] or maybe just use custom chars..
but bling can wait till we see how much room is left..Big Grin

In waiting for a repsond of Sub for the current channel, I was trying to find out how to make configurate a custom line via xml parameters.
If there's a proper solution, it will definitely be here.

I'm planning to change the VFD to make use of there functions as well (AKA configurable messages)
For debugging this, that tip pBS gave me concerning the display.dll, will come real in handy.

In the main time I will shorten that string message.

Nick

yea, and you can simulate any number of lines, chars to simulate any size display..Wink even custom chars..

nice thing about smartie is, you don't really have to install it, so can make a custom setup, zip it up and post it and all users have to do is unzip and select their vfd/lcd type and hit ok.....Big Grin
but like set it up for 2x16 max so users could tweak to add stuff but would work on almost every display right away..
[very few are smaller than 2x16..i have 2x16,2x20, and 2x24..]

Owkay,

uploaded update 4.
In this one, you'll get the posibillity
- to cleanup the registry on exit
- changed the (next) recording message
- set the format of the time displayed in (queued) recording.

I've played around with LCDsmartie and apparently there the possibility to add some logic
in the actions settings.

For example:
if$dll(myreg.dll,1,HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\npvrlcd\ProcessedData,IsPlaying)>0thenGotoScreen(2)
etc...

Quote:oh and another important thing, apparently the reg reader errors out if nothing at all is in a reg key..

I'm not getting any errors here when the keys are empty.
At startup, all the keys are initialized with string.empty, which is the same as "";
What do you mean with tis?

I'm going away for the weekend. Hope that I get a response on my "how to get the current channel" question so I can add it on monday.

Grtz,
Nick

Owkay

Update nr 5 is another try to get the current channel...
If it doesn't work, could somebody activate "DumpAllObjects" in the xml and send me their logs?

(Code only adjusted in registrymode)

thx,
nick
