Here's the mpvmcx2.txt file. I attempted to play \\HDX1000\dvd\Battlestar Galactica 1\Battlestar Galactica 1.iso

That looks more like just stderr. Instead of redirection could you get the program called putty for running telnet http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtat...nload.html , enable the capture logging and send me the output.

Don't know exactly what you want me to log. The previous log that I sent you was from doing this after telnetting to the HDX1000:
/share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/tmp/mvpmcx2.txt 2>&1 &
What logging are you needing?

Hasso

For a quick test, I guess just try /share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/tmp/mvpmcx2.txt and I won't worry about the error that you send last time.

Tried that, but all I get is a black screen on the HDX1000. In fact now all I get is a black screen when I access mvpmcx2 through the HDX1000 Web Services, so something definitely has gone very wrong. I think I'll take a bit of a break...

I am sure this wouldn't have caused a problem, but I forgot to mention two things

- after doing this you need to power off to reset the NMT
- only do this when the NMT software is running.

Ok... I've restarted the NPVR server and now I do get the NPVR screens when I access mvpmcx2 through the HDX1000 Web Services. But I'm still getting the black screen on the HDX1000 when I do the "/share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/tmp/mvpmcx2.txt", and no mvpmcx2 file is being produced. To get out of the black screen, I have to reboot the HDX1000.

Sorry, but are you sure that the previous file I attached doesn't in any way help? It does mention things like:
- We need to play switch 0 0 \\HDX1000\dvd\BM5U5N~N\BM5U5N~N.ISO
- Requesting \\HDX1000\dvd\BM5U5N~N\BM5U5N~N.ISO
- skipping file /unknown.mpg
They don't make sense to me, but looks like it was trying to play an iso file. The only iso file I tried to play at this time was \\HDX1000\dvd\Battlestar Galactica 1
Battlestar Galactica 1.iso

Hasso

Welcome to 8.3 filenames, they don't make a lot of sense, but unfortunately sub removed long filename support in NPVR because he didn't want to address issues with accents. Unknown.mpg simply is my hack to reset the SDK (these logs are really not meant to be readable by anyone but me)

Are you putting quotes around the command? If so you shouldn't be.

No, no quotes. I telnet to the HDX1000 and enter /share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/tmp/mvpmcx2.txt. In attempt to get logs I've also tried changing /Apps/mvpmcx2/daemon.cgi by amending this line:

/share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/dev/null 2>&1 &

to this line:

/share/Apps/mvpmcx2/bin/mvpmcx2 >/tmp/mvpmcx2.txt

And still get the black screen which requires a reboot of the HDX1000.

So still no closer to getting iso files hosted by the HDX1000 to be played through mvpmcx2 on the HDX1000 :-(

Hasso

You could still try the putty option if you want.
