You can enter "forced" and it should default to only forced subs.

We won't be needing DirectVobSub anymore!

I'm successfully decoding the Bluray PGS stream. Now I just have to create a DirectShow filter that I can connect in place of DirectVobSub and I will be able to display the subtitle images as a message/popup on top of the video rather than inserting it into the video. This means it will work independent of the video decoder so no breaking DXVA.

I am looking forward to it - although I have a feeling there is slightly more to it than "just" Big Grin

I have gone back to using PDVD12 in DXVA mode - HAM mode was was excellent on h264 but useless on MPEG2 SD and i haven't found anything else that works as well as the PDVD12 DXVA Codec yet.

Yep, this is going to be great when you get it all working. If you're "just" (Big Grin) decoding whatever subtitle stream is fed out of LAV, does that mean it'll work with more than BD, eg MKV files?

It will be easier than decoding the PGS stream. Big Grin

It will work with mkv files where LAV is outputing Bluray PGS subs. Subtitles can be in Bluray, HDDVD and DVD format. So far I've only decoded Bluray.

Well just shout if you want a hand with anything. Maybe I could teach myself something new and learn how to decode the DVD formatted ones...

I'll shoot you the source when I'm done. Right now, it just looks like the ramblings of an incoherent mind. Big Grin

Did you ever get any further with this, Bill? I was suddenly reminded about it after ripping a bunch of new blu-rays received for Christmas, and then having to extract the subs to srt files in a couple of cases.

I got further but ran into some issues (high memory usage, display timing issues and a SetOSD problem) and had to take a break during the holidays. I've also started working on BD menu support. I have a work project to wrap up for next week that I'm behind on but I'll get back to it as soon as it's done.

BD Menu support - will be very nice, if you can do it.
I had a few discs over Christmas that had ridiculously obtuse menus - in the end I had to re-install TMT3 note down all the chapter / total lengths, use BDInfo to find the exact pls file (out of about a hundred) and play it in MPC-HC SHE was not to impressed
