EPG OTA update unreliable

I did make some changes on your machine, which fixes the one problem I found looking at your machine. It now seems to have most Freesat listings (I think). There is still some channels with no listings though, which I'm not sure why. For example "E4" has listings, but "e4" does not. I couldn't find any sign of listings in the stream for "e4".

"TV99" also did not seem to have listings in the stream.

Is there anything special about these channels?

I had to update NPVRTSMon.ax to fix a problem in the code with the way it was dealing with Freesat listings.

I have been having the same issue but all my channels are DVB/ATSC EPG. What log files do you need to see?

In the US there is typically only an hour or two of epg broadcast - you will probably need to use Schedules Direct (pay) or mc2xml (free but is it legal?) to download the epg from the net.

As for log files - zip the complete folder - can't go wrong then. (Location is in the first sticky post)

Channel is normally E4 I would think e4 is a mistake and TV99 is a Pakistani Channel on the UK Satellites - probably why no epg listings - just checked it's a sky channel

Also are you going to release the updated NPVRTSMon.ax - or is it to experimental :eek:

Hi Sub,

Initial testing looks good. I've reset all the FreeSat channels back to pickup the EPG from FreeSat rather than DVB and reloaded the EPG several times.

The EPG now seems consistent and the number of queued recurring recordings remains constant/stable.

I have noted that a couple of the FreeSat channels don't seem to have any EPG content although occasionally real time EPG update happens where it picks up Now & Next for those channels, but not a full schedule. I'll do further research on that and report back. I have noticed that the Now & Next EPG entries often have a funny character at the beginning & end or the text. This prevents matching with recording scheduling.

A couple of questions.:-
Should the use Out-of-process digital recording setting be ticked or un-ticked?
Is the behaviour of the Bulk Update screen correct in that if you set channels to FreeSat, when you exit the screen, the EPG source is set to None?
Should "update DVB EPG during Live TV" work on Satellite as well as DVB?

Sorry, but you really need a multi-day EPG for it to be usable for PVR purposes, like scheduling recordings etc. Unfortunately the US broadcast EPG usually isn't good enough for this purpose, since they usually only transmit a few hours of listings. You'd really need to look into Schedules Direct or MC2XML.

They should be the same from the EPG perspective, some users have noted that they needed it turned off. I'm not sure why they needed this.

No, it shouldn't do that. Can supply your npvr.db3? I'll check it here.

I'm not sure that feature can be enabled any more. I disabled it a long time back due to problems it was causing for some users.
