Yes sorry I remember now I owe martin123 a reply. X-NEWA works fine with the stock 5.0 and also the Milhouse builds with Kodi 15.

In Kodi Helix 14.1 the problem appears specific to timeshift mode using pvr.nextpvr. The problems seems related to OE for the RPi too, OSMC works fine as does the RPi2

Thanks for the explanation Martin - I have it running x-newa fine at present with the currently available OE.
Next step is for an IR receiver and try for a lirc config with maybe checking your NMT IR codes. Currently using wireless micro keyboard and trackpad.

Kind of lost track of what version is where here. Is the most current (i.e. fixed version of the NextPVR) plugin in Openelec 5.0.4 (which is kodi kodi-14-085163e - 14.1)?

It is confusing because there there is some unexplained stuff going on that I can only duplicate in OE 5 on the RPi. Here is summary

5.0 with 14.0 LiveTV Fails in both modes
5.0 with 14.0 in my first patch Live TV works in both modes
5.0.x with 14.1 LiveTV works in streaming mode but timeshifting fails.
5.0.1 with 14.1 in my patch. Live TV works in both modes. The difference is one line of code forcing logging on.
5.0.4 with 14.2b2 Untested

Milhouse 15.0 Builds - Fails in both modes last I tested. waiting for sub's PR

Slightly off-topic, but, got my pi2, loaded up openelec, loaded npvr plugin. It all worked! I didn't even have to install a mpeg-2 license. What's up with that? On my other 2 PI's, .ts and .mpg files would not play, on this one they do and so does live tv without the license??? I'm guessing it's doing software decoding, the license un-locks the hardware decoding??

I do notice slight stuttering, but I have not tried to tweak any settings yet.

Right, if you use the O key to get the codec information you will see it using ffmpeg s/w demux and not omx h/w

Ok, so will the picture quality improve on my live tv and ts recordings if I get the MPEG licence? Currently I find the picture not really responsive, ie. it looks "interlaced" and i see horizontal lines in fast moving pictures, such as sport.

Maybe. Software decoding on the RPi family is generally not a good idea, the CPU isn't really up to it. However with Kodi be aware that the default is no deinterlacing so you need to enable that too.

If you have RaspPI B, B+ or Pi2, I definitely noticed a difference. With mine, B and B+ would not even play most of my videos (black screen), with the Pi2, SD played, however, HD was choppy and audio/video was out of sync. With the codec, all Pi's play very watchable video. It's cheap and in my mind well worth the couple bucks.

FYI
B+ loaded with OE5xxx now play mpeg 2 with no license but the deinterlacing is pretty bad (doesnt deinterlace) but at least you get a picture to show its working.
