How long was his test?

I'm not sure - but longer than he'd usually get out of his own machine remotely.

If you have nothing better to do with your time , and if it might help, I'd be interested in doing the same test.

I have no issues streaming over the internet jrockow. I have both cable and iptv which I have transcoded down to 480 . I'm using an hdhomerun prime with a cable card for cable tv. My server is also my gaming pc which has an I5 4690K and 16 megs of ram over cable internet. I've streamed to my phone and my fire tablet with wifi and cellular data successfully.

How long have you let the show stream? Sometimes I've gone close to 15 minutes before it would freeze.
I am using a Prime w/Comcast.
I don't have quite as much horsepower in my server that you do, but I hope that's not the reason.
My Android TV box has a direct connect ethernet cable.
I might try a tablet just to see if that's any different.

I've only watched some half hour shows so far while killing time at work waiting out rain. I'll be away this week end and plan on watching the race saturday night if I have cell service where we are camping. I am on comcast for cable as well so the same service.

I did a test using a tablet, as oppossed to the TV box I was using.

Previously I had the TV box plugged directly into the modem.
For this test I introduced a WIFI router and connected the tablet via WIFI.

Made no difference, it froze after 6 minutes.

I just don't understand why mediaportal android app and webapp works just fine and I also use vnc viewer regularly without any problems. I mean while sub was connected to my home server and had disconnects I was watching it with vnc viewer.

Yeah, I don't have a full explanation for you. There is definitely still some unknowns.

jrockow was able to stream successfully from my NextPVR server for a few hours yesterday.

We can see that the Android app streams fine when the connection is good, since you guys were able stream from my NextPVR server without issues. You can also both stream to your local servers within your network without issue, which kind of implies your NextPVR server is capable of streaming for long periods. When you stream remotely, NextPVR doesn't care where the client is and tries to behave exactly the same, but for whatever reason, I can see lots of dropped connections on your servers (most are non-fatal and it continues).

Did you guys try streaming at the absolute lowest bitrate profile? ie 360p - 200Kbps? I streamed successfully from jrockow's server yesterday for 45 minutes, until he stopped the server. I happened to be using this profile when I did that test.

What brand of router are you both using?

Yeah I used the lowest bitrate. I have a Linksys e3000. I have 3 Linksys routers running as repeaters with ddwrt and an e3000 with tomato firmware that does the routing. I work on my PC with vnc viewer when I'm away using either my Android or PC without issues. I have tried troubleshooting nextpvr without success which is why I finally registered here and asked. So idk. All I do know is that my network seems to be running fine with numerous other apps and devices. I appreciate your hard work sub. Other than not being able to use your app over internet it's fast and awesome. Maybe it's a buffering issue. Thanks

when I did my TV box test, I had it plugged directly into an old Arris TM502G cable modem.
when I tried my Android tablet, I added a Netgear WNDR3700 router and connected via WIFI.

in either case, that was the complete network; there were no other devices in the LAN.
