reven Wrote:there is already a different graphic for urls, if you look in the skin.xml in the "my series" folder you'll see it. but as soon as view the webimage for the first time it creates a thumbnail for that webimage (which i like), i left the extensions on the files this time so you can tell which are which when not in list view.
What I was thinking about was a specific folder for my web images. So on my virtual root I would have a entry "Web Images" with a web icon. Just like the new Memory card. So I guess I'm asking for a yet another virtual root type. Why don't you put it on the back burner. Its not really that important.

But, since you mentioned the icon change to thumb nail, that was a really nice touch. Does the thumbnail update when you view the web image?

reven Wrote:no, they can take far to long to download, so theres not much point.
That's a good point.

reven Wrote:im not sure if this is possible in gbpvr (it might be) but the way sub does things, im not sure.
It works in the webcam's plugin which is what I'm trying to replace. If "My Pictures" can do most of what the webcam plugin does It will be one less plugin I need to load.

Once again, great work.

Quote:what is the difference between:
Random
Slideshow
RSlideshow
Random = does a random slideshow of all images in the current directory and every sub directory and their sub directories and their etc.
Slideshow = does a slideshow moving forward of all images in the current directory only
RSlideshow = does a slideshow moving backward (ie Z-A) of all images in the current directory (also it doesnt work in the current version, i might remove it from the final, not much point in it).

ok ill think about it

theres currently a bug here, it will update the thumbnail whenever you view it, but wont save that updated thumbnail to the database, so when you exit/reenter that folder it will show the original image. im probably just going to make it so it doesnt update at all (but add an option to a popup menu saying "update thumbnail" or something).

hmmm i wonder how they did that... i think it might be the way ive done things, i download an image then make an new image to fill the screen then dispose of the original image (this means instead of an image of the size 3200x2400 (or something) i can reduce the image down to 720x480 and it looks just as good, but loads a lot quicker). anyway ill toy around with it.

ok (if you read the other thread, you know this already) animated gifs will be in the next release (which will probably be a beta release), ive also done the "copy folder" feature, it doesnt show a progress bar, but it shows which file is currently being copied, and once its complete it says how many files were copied and where they were copied to (incase the copy took 0.5 seconds and your not sure if it worked, which happened to me when testing Smile). at the moment it doesnt replace any files of the same name (and im probably going to keep it this way) it just skips over them.

Wonderful! I just setup my wireless, and I might try the 'networked' gbpvr. That will be a nice interface for pictures.

ok i thought about it, and decided not to, however i will make it so if it finds an imaged called "override.png/jpg/gif" (or if you can think of a better name) it will use that image instead of whatever the type is, so it wont draw the folder icon at all, just that image, this should allow you to show a different icon for webimages(i like seeing the thumbnails even for webimages Smile)

Wow, that's great!!! So I can create special icons for any of my virtual roots? As long as I pick the folder type for the virtual root? That basicly allows you to create whatever root type you want. Correct? Or at least make it look like any type you want. Your just full of good ideas. Don't get me wrong I like seeing the thumbnail on the photo but if you have lots of items in the virtual root they all look the same. I like having an icon as a quick way to tell them apart.

Thanks for exploring the animated GIF. I'm lookinng forward to the next alpah or first beta whichever it is.

Override file name suggestion. Override is good, or "VR_FOLDER" or something like that. As long as users and skin designer's know its there I'm sure we can take advantage of it.

A_Brass Wrote:One error when I'm trying to navigate a folder with 20 or so pics, I get an error "Failed to load resource from resource file please check your setup". When I press enter (or ok) GBPVr crashes. This is not a consistant failure.

Please note this is not on my Main PVR its on my laptop:
1.8 Pentimum M
512mb ram
WinXP Pro
30g HD

The above problem is back, and I think I have it figured out. If I open a folder while My Pictures is creating the thumb's and try to navigate (left, right, up, or down, I get the Failed to load resource. . . . error. If I dont click or or press enter the thumb's continue to be created.

Very strange.
