wrt the WizImageGrabber not behaving in Vista, I am having issues with the message popping up all the time now.

If I turn OFF "Interactive Services Detection" is this a bit like sticking your head in the sand? i.e. each time WizImageGrabber runs it will leave an instance of the CMD Window that it uses to run the Image Grabber, rather than completing it? The reason I ask is because WIG will run each time I record something (in post process) or each time I d/l something using Xrecord. I wonder if I use a .bat to run it, whether that would close the CMD Window?

I don't have Vista. I wonder if WizImageGrabber had a command line option to disable any output to the console. Maybe try to redirect the WizImageGrabber output to nul as follows?

WizImageGrabber.exe /CreatePlaceholders:false /ForcePlaceholderRefresh:-1 /File:"House" > NUL

If the redirection to NUL works or the WizImageGrabber author adds a new command line option I'll change the XRecord code.

I've added the >NUL to my post-processing.bat, will get back to you with feedback after a few sessions, cheers again fla. I really hope this works!

Also unfortunately the WizImageGrabber author can't add a new command line option as he doesn't have Vista either, so I'm stuck got now.

Thanks for trying anyway, I'll dig some more, but most issues regarding "Interactive Services Dialog Detection" seem to relate to svchost.exe

I also just moved to your new beta (which is GREAT many fantastic changes/fixes)

The sorting improvements are fantastic, really help the usability for 'internet' downloaded tv.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I tried your list view (pause or Ctrl-Q), and yes, that is much closer to what we were looking for. There does however, seem to be a bug in this view. If I hit a letter to jump to that part of the alphablet, the pointer goes there but the screen does not. For example if I set the list view, it starts at the beginning of the "A's" or what ever is at the top. If I hit the "N" key, the highlight disappears. If I hit enter, indeed it takes me into a folder that started with "N", but if I back out, I'm still viewing the "A's". This odd behavior kind of defeats the purpose and makes this view fairly unusable.

By the way, thanks for all the sorting enhancements, they are much appreciated and seem to be working fine.

If I can trouble you with one more problem that I am having it would be great. I'm not sure if the problem is with Xrecord, GBPVR, or just me! As I mentioned before, I have migrated to Xrecord from Video Archive. I imported all of my videos into the GBPVR database from several drives, and they all appear in the database if I view it directly. However, not all recordings that appear in the data base appear in GBPVR, and not all that appear in GBPVR are playable. For example, in the database I have a recording such as E:\Videos2\Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader\Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader.....mpg. I also have the E:\Videos2 folder listed in the properties for XRecord, and the recording is listed when I view the app. However, when I attempt to play it, the only options available to me are: Delete, Find More and Exit. There is no way to play the video even though it is indeed in the folder.

Also, other videos do not appear at all. For exampe, the above video was recorded on 3/2/2008. But another one recorded on 2/10/2008 does not appear at all, even though it is in the folder. It's also in the GBPVR database. Any clues you can give me would help tremendously, as I'm not sure where to start.

You're right there was a bug in the select by first letter feature in list view. I fixed it and uploaded a new version.

As for recordings not appearing or appearing without a play button. If it's in the ready screen, XRecord asks gbpvr for the list, so XRecord will normally show the same list that you would see in gbpvr's own recordings screen. If XRecord is showing the same thing as gbpvr, then it's probably not an XRecord bug.

XRecord's Video and Movie screens are entirely created by XRecord code. If problems appear here, it probably is an XRecord issue. BTW the video paths in the XRecord properties are for the Video and Movie screens only not the Ready screen.

My guess would be that the import utility you used did not setup all the database fields correctly and gbpvr thinks they are not valid recordings. What if you replace the actual problematic mp3 file with a known working one with the same name just to rule out a problem with the mp3 file? If you can't figure out the problem and want to send me the gbpvr.db3 and the minimal video dir through transferbigfiles or something I could take a look. Any errors in the logs?

Is the problem here the text to the console, ie is it that Vista throws up a warning if the program attempts to write to the console? I could probably disable console output if that's the issue...

I did try the NUL thing and that didn't seem to work.

If disabling console output means I can run the Imagegrabber without it throwing up the command window, GREAT, I'd be very very happy!
