JavaWiz Wrote:- I'll see what I can come up with for a 'generic' default filter (or clear) function off the main screen.
- I've resolved much of the memory problem in my current working version. I still have a couple things to check thru, but look for an update by the end of the week.
Glad to hear you've found improvements with memory usage - it will be a great help, thanks!!!

On the filter clearing -- just want to be clear so that you don't chase my poor description of earlier...

I'm talking about the situation when I've loaded a stored filter and reviewd results _THEN_ want to perform a normal "Criteria" search and enter the new search words individually at the top of screen (the criteria input line).

The way it works now is that when doing that it performs the criteria seach (as a sub-query) on the existing results form the saved filter currently in effect.
That's a good thing!
But it would be nice to be able to clear that result set out and perform a _new_ criteria search from scratch.

Hope that's more clear.

Thanks again for a really useful new tool - the stored filters is a real boon for the whole family,

I'm having a problem that when I hit enter or double click on search I get bumped back to the main screen. I don't have a remote so I don't know if I'm getting the problem due to direct PC-keyboard input.

I believe I read a notice on the wiki that this plug-in isn't tested with Access database setups, could that be the issue?

I happen to use SQLite database and have not tried running this with the access database, so that may be the issue.

That said, not really sure why this is happening, I'll need the logfiles to troubleshoot. Hold off til you see 1.0.6, if it still is happening, send me the logs and I'll take a look.

08/22/07 : 1.0.6
  • Fixed install, removed old WizUiHelper.DLL from GBPVR directory if it exists.
  • Added Keymapping to Horizontal lists so arrow keys worked more logically
  • Added logic to WizUiTextBox to handle arrow keys better
  • Skin updates to RecordingDialogPopup.xml and FilterPopup.xml
  • Sorted Ratings list in Filter dialog
  • When selecting filter from list, current selection rolls to top of list.
  • Added config setting to remember the last selected filter as the default (see config panel).
  • Fixed a memory issue with WizUiHelper for List, TextBox and Labels.
  • Clear button now is Clear Criteria, it only clears the search string
  • Dflt Filter button loads the filter named “Default”. This is a short cut to clicking on Load Filters, then selecting the filter named Default.

I've edited my config.xml file to use SQLite and the problem seems to have disappeared. I can now search! (Good thing because I deleted my recording setups because after the install none were "pending". I didn't want to go up down and left and right in the guide to find stuff).

I love this because I can create tons of genre filters and find stuff I wouldn't have that way. Good work.

Question, do you use the blue skin. I know some folks were having problems cause the Community skin was not up-to-date. If you are using blue, then the problem must have been the access db.

Glad you find the plugin useful...

SearchWizX2 - v1.0.7 posted on the Wiki

08/26/07 : 1.0.7
  • Added more up/down to scrolling text box display. This was added primarily for the IMDB lookup text box.
  • Added Auto Search. You can now set a number of charcters in the config, to trigger an auto search. SearchWizX2 will automatically begin to retrive results. Each keystroke will refine the list. A value of 0 turns off Auto Search functionality.
  • Modified IMDB Lookup to retrieve more movie information.

Weird bug ... quickest way to see it is to click Help button, then Back button. The Help screen is dismissed, but you can see the outline of the Help window for about 5 seconds before it goes away. If you hit a button, it goes away immediately. Using version 1.0.7.

I can't seem to recreate this problem.
  • Does happen on the MVP and PC or only one?
  • What skin are you using?
  • If not the Blue, does it occur with the Blue skin as well?
