This link to the wiki should give you what you need.

And I successfully remapped several keys on my test machine. At first it did not change but I then cleared windows media center under "programs and features" and then it worked. Tonight I'll import the registry settings to the production box. This is a great find, I love it. No third party application needed.

Hi, indeed found that wiki article already. But the Ctrl-Y doesn't do anything anymore. USed it to change subtitles.

Check the keymapping.xml file under the users/public/npvr directory. I think that is the current keyboard set used, not sure though.

@kindtNick yes, the power key is programmable, but there is a default keycode too...reset the remote to defaults and you'll have the default power key..

Quote:Set Remote Control ID - To enable your Media Center to respond to a specific remote control ID do the following;
1. Press and hold the DVD Menu key on the remote then press a number button (1-8) for 5 seconds. Remotes with visible
LED signal indicators will blink twice to confirm the change.
set as '0' i believe to get default keys..[maybe try 1 if that one doesn't work tho]

nice one @darko...Big Grin handy...will put it on the wiki page..

Is it possible to program the My Music , My videos buttons? - I can't seem to figure out from the guide how to identify these keys.

I'm having trouble importing the mcemod.reg file into the registry. I running win7 64-bit and I have UAC turned off. I double click the file and it says the file was installed, but the key in the registry doesn't change.

This should work with NPVR, right?

Any hints.

Thanks,
pete

Hey,

Was playing arond with this and wanted to map the dvd menu to something else, but was struggling to find the code

Came across an an called "MCE Remote key Mapper" which allows you to set the registry easily through the App.
http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/remaptut.html
It also links on that page to showkey, which will show which key is being sent when a remote button is pressed.

May help someone to do the same as me.

EDIT: That prog didn't seem to show they keys I was after, but DVD Menu is code 24 according to
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...tton_codes

I've tried to map that to Videos (F3)
The following line worked for that
24,00,00,00,04,00,3c ; DVD Menu - Now Videos

Once I had added that to the registry (just tacked it on the end of PBS's reg file) a button labelled DVD Menu showed up in the util.

@gEd
My Videos (not on my remote) looks to be code 4A and My Pictures = 49

whurlston Wrote:Well the Adesso remote installs as an HID keyboard and mouse and not as a remote control. So the only way to override the keys in the registry is by adding a Scancode Mapping to the keyboard layout. The problem is that this will override ALL keyboards which would not be good. I'll look into temporarily overriding them with an tray application instead that can be enabled and disabled. The only issue will be that I can't override the Info button since this is mapped to a right mouse click. What I can do though is override the Back button to serve as Info so the two buttons would in effect be reversed since right mouse click serves the same function as back in GBPVR.

Did you ever manage to sorting this? Just bought a MCE remote and couldn't reprogramme its keys (especially the power down button!!!). Discovered it too appears as a HID Keyboard/mouse and not a remote :-(

Any advise appreciated.

I used ShowKey from here, and don't see all of the buttons show up from my new Hauppauge PCTV Remote Kit. The buttons that don't show up are Red/Green/Yellow/Blue, Windows logo, the 3 by the Mute button except Guide, and the button at the very bottom. I used MceRemoteMapper and got the NPVR keystrokes assigned to all of the other buttons. I made sure that MceAlternateIrService was killed, and EventGhost was not running.

The reason why I prefer MceAlternateIrService/EventGhost with my Microsoft MCE Remote is that I can run batch files with button presses, and keystrokes can be redirected to NPVR even when it doesn't have focus.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Based on my experience, not all keys are in the "stock" registry, and thus they do not show up in MCERemoteMapper. In my case, the colored buttons were not there.

I have entered them manually, and then used MCEREmoteMapper to change if needed. You can do this by exporting the existing registry using MCERemoteMapper. Then edit that .reg file to add the desired buttons using pBS' info, or other sources, such as this:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...tton_codes.

Then register that file and you should be able to use the mapper. Save the original as a backup in case...

This is based on my understanding that your problem is that the buttons of interest do not show up in MCERemotemapper.

Thanks for your link! I had not seen it before and it looks like what I need to understand how to manually create registry entries.
I'm stuck on associating the Button Name column with some buttons on this remote. I haven't been able to find an image on internet or documentation that labels each button. The icons aren't obvious to me what they mean. Help?[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
