The DirectX runtime is not available on this machine

yes, I suspect 32-bit is correct. That's what agerdin says solved his issue, and he's running 64-bit windows.

now that we know it is indeed a missing file from the runtime, hopefully sub can determine which file it is and include it with the next build, maybe even re-roll the current installer to include it. I can also attach the missing file in the sticky thread and include it with a patch .zip.

I used the x86 version since Npvr is 32-bit but no sure what is needed. See what happens with the x64 version.

It does appear to be based on "bitness" of the app itself, not Windows'. Quoth the description of the 64-bit runtime:

Quote:The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run 64-bit applications developed with Visual C++ 2010 SP1 on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2010 SP1 installed.

(emphasis added). NextPVR is of course 32-bit.

ok, the suggestion has been made that the missing file is msvcp100.dll, which is attached. If anyone is still having the DirectX problem and hasn't yet installed the full VC++ 2010 runtime, please try putting this file in your C:\Program Files(x86)\NPVR folder and report back whether that fixes it.

Yes, Windows 8 Pro with Media Center x64.

ok, I've added this file to the sticky patch list, #6, and it will be included in the next cumulative patch. Presumably sub will include it with future releases as well.

I've posted this in the sticky too but worth putting here as well.

I justhad to do a fresh windows install on an old laptop and used the 32 bit version of windows 7, I appeared to have this issue also and the patch in the sticky fixed it - seems it might not be limited to x64 flavours.
