Hi there. Hope you are all well, had a greate Christmas and New Year.

I noticed that there is a new Nextpvr release. I'm here to bring good news and at least 2 bad news.

Somewhere in early January, I decided upgrade programs installed on a mini pc I usually use when I'm bed for casual usage and it also serves as recording device.
I remember running the setup but I don't remember if I checked settings/about.
Today in the middle of the night, I woke up, started checking, organize, free up space, etc but I noticed programmes were not being recorded. The recordings were being recorded by keyword.
Then I checked that the new release of Nextpvr was already installed, checked the changelog, saw character set epg strings.

So... I opened the WebUI, logged in, settings, devices, dvb-t device, clicked the bin icon, deleted all channels, scanned for new channels, finally the channel names have correct characters. "SIC Notícias" has its í. "TVI Ficção" changed its name to "V+ TVI", no wrong chars. Scrolling down, the rest of the channels look ok. This is the good news.

Then I emptied the EPG and updated it. Opened the client, tv guide, channel names are ok except the programme and description. They still have the wrong characters. This the bad news #1.

The other bad news is that the recording is not properly working. Scheduling recordings by keywork seems to not work properly. I can enter name and keyword, hit ok but the programmes are not being found.
Also tried to go to TV Guide, gone to the channel, selected the programme, selected record season, clicked ok, gone back to the menu, scheduler, the programmes related with that programme season is not listed and when I select recurring recodings, a JIT gets triggered.

Which country are you in?

I assume you're using DVB-EPG? If so, can you use the evaluation version of tscapture (https://tscapture.com/) to record a 1 minute full transport stream, and put it somewhere like onedrive/googledrive, and let me know the download link? I'll check it out here in the debugger.

You should have created a new thread. And you also need to include the zipped set of log files generated by the Settings | Log Files button. (Make sure that the .zip file is <2MB. If it is larger, then you will need to post on a public file sharing service and post a link to it.)

Regarding the date top-left of the guide, NextPVR asks windows for the 'short date' representation and your system takes care of the formatting. ie, this comes down to regional settings etc in windows.

I live in Portugal. We use H.264/AAC or HE-AAC here. The main problem is that everything was working until mid last year for EPG and out of the blue, they screwed with EPG.

Ok... I dug a bit more... meanwhile I managed to break the nextpvr installation, by trying injecting 6.x over 7.0, even 5.x.

I really didn't realised that there was a 7.0.0 version. When I updated Nextpvr, I skipped the 7.0.0.
So I searched for Nextpvr old versions and downloaded a few zip files and after many trial and error, I finally understand how the npvrsetup.exe works.
So... I'll just go to the interesting parts.
I learned that if npvrsetup.exe doesn't find a local npvr.zip, it downloads the latest one, installs Nextpvr from it, and deletes the zip.
If a local npvr.zip is found next to the executable, it will install it, no matter the version.
So I copied npvr-7.0.0..zip to npvr.zip (cp npvr........zip npvr.zip) and Nextprv installs the 7.0.0 version.
The WebUI is launched, logged in, settings, devices, dvb-t, scan, all channel names are fine. Then I updated EPG. Opened the client for windows, clicked TV Guide, and everything appears to be fine... channel names, programme names, description. No matter which channel. But there seems to be a problem. While the á é í  ç ó etc appear to be fine, there is a symbol that doesn't appear correctly. The np700.png shows which programme has this problem. Instead of showing ' , it shows a rectangle.

I can schedule every programme fine with 7.0.0, even with keywords. But when I try to add that programme with that broken symbol, Nextpvr raises a JIT. Nothing appears when I go to WebUI and click scheduler. There are a bunch of programmes but the recurring items do not appear listed when that programme is added. That rectangle must be breaking something internally.

Next.. I deleted the local 7.0.0 zip and ran npvrsetup to update from 7.0.0 to 7.0.1, emptied the EPG, scanned for it, and the wrong characters are all back. The rectangle is shown regardless the version.
If I install the 7.0.0 again over 7.0.1 and scan for EPG, the symbols appear to be correct.

Yeah.. I would like to apply to some beta testing. I would be like to be notified by email or some other way when there is a beta version. Beta versions could prevent the breakage like what happened with 7.0.0->7.0.1.
The alternative, is joining to a live chat and allow remote desktop for the developer test locally new test builds. I usually use the mini pc at night, the rest of the day it just sits there doing nothing or records one thing or another.

I currently have 7.0.0 installed... let's see what else is broken when I use it.

//I moved the post forum notification setting... it was position 3 to 4.. it's kind of an embarassement coming here and see that there is plenty of messages to read. Lets see if I get notified.

First the email notifcation system is broken, so you need to manually follow the forum The main web page will also show a notification. There are typically no public betas.

You need to follow sub's note https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid598496 and provide an external link to full mux, (it will we need to check the EPG processing internally. There was a change that helps some character sets that obviously breaks other.

Just click DOWNLOAD at left.
Here's a capture made with tscapture.
I selected "RTP Memória" from the list, so it could grab the stream where the channel is.

"...M´E..."... I probably did type the wrong character. It's not " ' ", but " ´ ".

I'm confident that there will be a solution that serves all encodings.

I will probably pin the tab then, so I can access this thread easily.

It's definitely 8859-1 and iso 6937 (which is the DVB spec) so maybe not that easy to add.
