His total commitment & sheer dedication to sub's program is outstanding and in my personal opinion, his 'skins' gives GB-PVR that 'commercial' feel which makes using the interface comfortable to use. - So Tipster, go for it man !!
i have to disagree with this, no disrespect to tipstir, but i feel those skins look to unprofessional, they're fine for seperate skins, but for the main skin if we want to showcase gbpvr, we need something more professional. mediaportal has a 2 really nice skins (2 are rubbish) that come with it, sage and beyond skins are rubbish, but meedio main skin these days is pretty good, so i think we should try and get a skin (a custom skin) that is up to par with those skins.

the best original skin (design wise) that has been made for gbpvr so far would have to be the 'street' skin (or the blue version of it) its simple and professional looking.

just my opinion.

For what its worth... I agree with Reven. Not be disrespectful to anyone, but the new default skin should be *kazaaam*, like no other skin that is available at this moment.

I have to note though that I have much respect for all of you skin developers!

Yep, have to agree with those.

Honestly, the MVP is the only reason I tried GBPVR in the first place. I got a MVP to play the mpegs that my old PVR card made. Then I got GBPVR for it's added functionality over Hauppauge's software even though I couldn't use it direcly with my old card. Now I have added 2 more MVPs because of GBPVR. I never play back files on the PC itself except to check them.
I understand that alot of GBPVRs users don't have a MVP, probably most people don't. I have always felt that Sub made it if not specifically for the MVP, at least with it as an integral part.

Anyway, like I have said before, I really don't care about the look and feel as much as
1) can I watch my shows easily? (on a MVP...Big Grin )
2) will my shows record?
Everything else is icing on the cake!
3x MVPs (not used anymore)

yeah i know, but its one of the major design rules, dont worry about the architecture.

anyway probably the only device that will be effected by the design is the xcard, since 256 graphics, the mvp should be able to display any graphics (just saving them in the correct format).

I think people have to realize that GBPVR has two interfaces....not just one. Neither one is better than the other because they each serve their own purpose in their own way.

I go back to what I suggested at the get-go.....skins between the native and MVP could be similar but could be designed to fit the environement.

Now that you can set one skin for the native GBPVR and another for MVP we have the oportunity to develop an excellent interface for both environments.

If either environment is ignored or slighted then you run the chance of disturbing the users that use GBPVR in the environment that gets slighted.

GBPVR is what it is....an excellent community based/supported PVR serving remote and local users of PVR functionality and beyone.

We owe sub a big thanks for his efforts and his willingness to offer this through a community rather than going commercial! Big Grin

I'm not really concerned about the differences between the MVP and PC if all we're really talking about is graphics and whether the colours come out looking right. More of an issue would be implementing flashy features that would only be available on one of the two (e.g. small video window on the main menu etc).

every pc user would love this, please consider doing it, there will have to be tradeoffs using a mvp, cant this just be one more? like the mvp has advantages over the pc aswell.

its just such a cool feature....

Couldn't agree more! It would be totally cool. But, I am a bit worried about stability. After using Media Portal a few days, it always felt like it was that video window's fault when things crashed or ground to a halt. Stability still is the main reason why I really love GBPVR. Then again, I totally trust Sub to only implement such a thing if he knows it'll work...

Sorry, thats just one thing I decided long ago that I just wasnt going to do. Its just not doable with MVP etc, and I dont want diverge the functionality that much.
