Oops. That's what I get for reading too quickly. Martin is correct. The include/exclude is used during the conversion process. An MCE EPG download is not required.

Sorry for the neverending requests here. I'm getting more of the channels showing up in the gbpvr guide but still not all of them and still no information. I know the info is there because I can see it when viewing the xml file in note pad. I've gone through every single channel probably three or four times looking for duplicates and can't seem to find any more. It's stopping at 2212 now even though that is a channel number I've excluded. Does it matter that I don't have an include or renumber file since you said it checks those first. I don't know I'm grasping at straws here now. It just baffles me because it seems like it should be working.

When i get to the setup part where is says select capture source there are no tuner cards listed. I am using Hauppauge 350 and I know it works. I can use it in Vista media.

Do you have the card configured in GB-PVR?

I just got this working today. I had a ton of duplicate channels to go through. I just wanted to say thanks to Whurlston for all the help and being patient with me. Really appreciate it. I had two more questions.

1. Now that I've got it working on my MCE pc if I want to use that xml file on the other one how will it know what channels to exlude if the exclude file doesn't alter the actual xml file?

2. Can I use this with other software that uses the xmltv listings? I swap back and forth between GBPVR and Mediaportal from time to time just for the heck of it. Will this work with both?

The program does not alter the MCE database other than Setting a new headend with the downloader. The channels in the database that match the ones in the exclude file are simply ignored by the converter and therefore not included in the xml output. The channels are still in the MCE database though.

You should be fine. I believe there are MP users using this utility.

I have set up GB-PVR on an MCE 2005 computer, and I am using your McePEG2XML program, and I am getting the same thing. I am pretty sure I have the exclude file right, the XML file has the correct channels when I view it in Notepad, but when I import it to GB-PVR it comes up like 10 channels short and no guide data. The XML seems to have all the channels, and the data, so I am guessing it's a dup channel. I tried surching the logs, but I can't find anything. If I attach the logs, coulkd you take a look for me? Also, which one would have the error? I tried searching for the word "error" in Notepad in ALL of them, but no error relating to channels. So much stuff in there!!

Thanks,
Richard

Code:
XMLTV: error reading xml: Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: '28460900'  Key being added: '28460900'
Your duplicate channel will be the channel right after 218 (the last channel listed in the config.exe.log). It has a channel id of 28460900.

You can and 219 (or whatever the channel number is) to your exclude file and it will be skipped.
