Because the way those keys are overloaded in GBPVR and on the NMT remote those are difficult to implement. The PCH doesn't have a channel up/down so I have mapped those to the up/down arrows but that doesn't make sense when navigating. I'll have a look sometime to see if there is some logic problem. I'm sure if starting from scratch and not from an MVP sub would have mapped the NMT remote differently and it is worse when I have an MVP remote emulating an NMT remote emulating an MVP remote.

The exit is also overloaded but hitting it should be an NMT Return though and it should than send an Exit to GBPVR, if it GBPVR sends back a command to tell mvpmcx2 to stop, in theory it should work. The Stop key is preferred simply because I start shutting things down quickly. Check the Return key on the NMT remote and if stops and the Exit key doesn't I might have a mapping problem.

I'll give the Return button a the NMT remote a try (I'll have to look for it). The Exit button on the Hauppauge remote works as follows on my PCH A110 when video playback is active.

First press - nothing
Second press - video playback continues, but apparently "Exit" is performed in GBPVR menu
Third press - "" ""

When I finally remember to press Stop instead of Exit, I see the GBPVR menu navigation has changed by the number of times I pressed the Exit button, minus one.

Thanks,
-Brad

Martin,

I think you have it mapped correctly, the Exit button on the Hauppauge remote works exactly the same as the Return button on my PCH A110 remote. Unfortunately, neither stops video playback.

I didn't realize there were so many layers to this. I'm amazed it works as well as it does, although this might explain why it seems to "miss" some button presses and double-up on others. Must be a real bear to troubleshoot....

Thanks,
-Brad

Ok thanks for checking. I see that mvpmcx2 isn't responding to the stop from GBPVR and it does put things into a bad state so I'll try and clean this up. I might be able to address the channel up/down problem too.

As for the keystrokes someone is going to have to modify the lircd driver, the Hauppauge remote is too fast.

Here is a version or lircd with repeat turned off on the Hauppauge remote. Can you let me know if this works better please

Thanks,

It certainly stops the inadvertent playing of a recording when just clicking on something in the recording screen to view the description (unwanted double key).

However, I'm not sure the total removal of repeat balances the fix of the problem. I have no idea what configurations are available in lirc, but is it possible to have it similar to keyboard repeating? i.e. a longer delay after the initial keypress and then it speeds up?. The PCH remote appears, at first glance, to do it this way.

From my point of view the answer is yes Yes YES it works much Much MUCH better & I have now finally done a number of timed skips (number key + skip) successfully with the MVP remote.

For me it more than balances the fix of the problem.....after using MVP's for years with their slow menu response I would never dream of trying to use the repeat of keystrokes on the remote, I just press the key as many times as I need to get it to go to wherever it is I want get to :p

I suspect if it was that simple Martin would have already done it that way....but then again as Szhults (sp?) from Hogans Heroes would say "I know nothing" & Martin will have to answer this one.

I suppose I should have given it a few more days before mentioning the downside (to me). It is just that I was getting used to holding the direction buttons to navigate - I ought to get used to using the other keys to navigate by pages instead of individual items.

So for the moment I retract my downside comments.

Ok, it sounds like progress. I'm so used to the MVP that I am like Jaggy, I never used repeat and move key by key even with the PCH remove. I might try a compromise and repeat the up/down keys only.

I have updated lircd in post one with a new version that only repeats the arrow keys and the volume keys. In addition the Hauppauge channel keys should work like they do with the MVP on the latest mvpmcx2
