New NMTInstall2 for N-PVR

I thought of a firewall problem early on, but both firewalls (Windows and BitDefender) are disabled. I am sure it is something to do with permissions though. Media has stopped letting me map a net workdrive on it, asks for a user name and password, but doesn't accept the only valid user name/password combo. I'll fiddle around some more, maybe have it fixed by morning your time

having studied the cgi I can sort of see what is supposed to happen

After npvr.html is executed I see I can telnet into the A110. Is there some log file in there that I can copy and send to you which might throw some light on the issue?? Or can I modify the cgi so that it creates a log file??

There are a lot of files and directories in /var/log on A110. Did not want to touch them. Only got one linux box and it has cost me a lot of time over the years!!

I did fiddle with the cgi. Changed the username. When I put it as 'administrator' , cold started and ran, I got a white screen saying something like 'mount \\192.168.0.3' whereupon it hung again. 'guest' gave the same result as usual

Yes if you can't map a share you will have problems, I thought you said it was working with mvpmc so I didn't go there. Your problem might be with simple file sharing turned off.

You actually have to do two things to use passwords if you have to use them.

- use the NMT software you need to enter the username and password with the share details.
- in npvr.cgi you need to use this syntax -o username=xxx,password=xxx,ro

If you have an older USB flash drive lying around, you might want to consider the USB method for the time being.

Its probably good to to get a look at the syntax output again to see that everything else is okay.

HDMI 1080i at 60 hz. It plays videos nicely through the NMT free ap MyiHome

Turned on simple file sharing. It was off

Pretty sure that the NMT can now and has been able to get at the mvpmc share. It does execute npvr html after all. Checked also that my main linux box can now mount, and read and write to the mvpmc samba share without a user name or password

Cold started everything.

BUT

same result - long pause then warm boot

Should I look for logs in the NMT as suggested in earlier post?

So things look good (not just the higher res) so I am sure we are close. I didn't notice that you said telnet is working so that is positive news. Open a telnet session from your PC and let me know what you see when you type

/etc/mvpmc/mvpmcx2

If you use putty as your telnet program you can capture the output and I will have a look at it.

You don't need to read on if you are busy. Truly sorry to have put you through all this

A year or so ago I had the idea that I could speed up the Hauppauge MVP booting if I got my linux server to supply it with the dongle etc. It never worked; there are some posts about it. Never bothered to eliminate the bts of mvmpc from the linux server, just ignored them when the hauppauge tried to use them. It was obvious when i looked at the output from the putty session that the NMT was getting its stuff from the linux server not the media machine - putty output attached if you can bear to read it. Shut down the mvmpc bit on the linux server and it all worked like a dream. Interestingly enough telnet to the NMT no longer works. You must have blocked it in some way in the version uploaded from C:\mvmpc

Two more questions, if you can bear it
(1) presumably i should update mvpmcx2, as per your post of today
(2) I need two more NMTs, presumably i just add them to config xml to make them work

I get the opening NPVR screen, can see the guide and manage recordings, but it will not play a recording. just goes black and then back to the previous screen
And it will not exit. have to switch off
Not a big problem. better to watch recordings through myiHome anyway, which has much better menus. And don't mind switching off. Soft start is very fast

Glad everything is working, that is a tough one to debug, I would not have thought that problem.

1. Post your logs and I will have a look, if the files are on your local drive my quess is you haven't updated config.xml to use

2. The Exit menu option is doesn't function from the MVP/NMT, hopefully one day it will disappear or be work like in 1.4.7 to break the connection. The Power key will exit to the NMT software

3. I don't like the NPVR default menu either. Did you try the different views that you can get from the button bar with LeftArrow->View. Once you see the faster playing and navigating in NPVR I suspect you will like NPVR interface more.
