There's a new version available that (hopefully) will resolve your issues.
Let me know how it works out.

Possible enhancement-

It takes quite a long time to run though the guide to attempt to locate images for all the shows. Many of these shows will NEVER have an image due to the nature of the program.

Could you add an option, if a show image is NOT found, to create a 'place holder' image so that the next time the program runs, it will NOT attempt to locate the image again.

This 'place holder' image will be a 1x1 bit map of a clear pixel. It will essentially show no image in GBPVR, but will dramatically speed up the show image lookup process.

Another option would allow you delete (or maybe relookup) the place holder images.

I agree.
I would say 99% of the shows it looks for do not come back with pics.
that means it does alot of searching for pics it will never find.

perhaps, if it does not find a pic, it wont look for that name for 2 weeks.
or it wont look for it the next 15 times the program runs.
or maybe if there was a way to make the above mentioned 1x1 clear pic self delete after a few weeks.

just some ideas.
not sure how possible they are though.

That could work. Setting a date default placeholder timespan could be done based on the create date of the placeholder image file.

When running thru the program list,
  • if the image exists
  • AND it is placeholder image
  • AND the date is older than X number of days
  • Re-lookup the image for that program, if found, replace placeholder with actual show image

Hey guys, sorry for the long wait for a reply.
I'll look into adding this feature, but it won't be for a little while.
It's just too dang nice out to be programming right now :p
I'll let you know when I come up with something.

I believe XRecord looks for images in a folder named art not media/art.
The current 0.50beta version of XRecord now uses media/art as the poster folder. It may be prudent to wait for the XRecord release but the Program Image Tool wiki page will eventually need to be updated to mention that the note for XRecord users applies only to XRecord 0.49 and earlier.

Hmm, I wonder if the XRecord download poster command (which hasn't worked for a while due to web page changes) could simply run ProgrammeImageTool.exe with /Show or /File... Is there a dll available that exposes this functionality to other plugins?

I took the liberty of updating the wiki to reflect this. I hope Carlito does not mind?

Awesome if it could. Awesome and a neat way to combine your efforts. ProgrammeImageTool could become the premium image search tool and the other plugins just call it up:-) This way, any updates Carlito makes to the databases will also improve the other plugins ... Smile

Of course not, thank you for doing so. I must be slipping, I forgot to update the page myself :o

Not sure about using my tool through other plugins. Developers are more than free to use my tool, but it would be up to their discretion if they want to add it or not.
