I tweaked the page some more, specifically adding a section with an editors note. Let's bash this idea around...

Anyway, my idea is that there's enough information so that someone can get a good overall picture, with links to a more detailed treatment. If the text gets too convoluted, it's too much to read, and gets skimmed over...

Methinks...

Here is what you have.

Quote:The Community Skin also stores many of its available elements in its own folder (Program Files\Blahblahblah\). When you wish to change a skin, it will draw elements from that special folder into the Skin2 folder. Some extra skin specific xml extra control files are referenced from the special folder but NOT moved into Skin2 folder…

editor note: see how this isn’t explained well? It is my beleief that the elements that are used for building the variety of different skins be more univerally stored….

I need to explain some of the sub-folders within the Community3 folder, but I think you are referring to the 'Program Files\Blahblahblah\' being the ..gbpvr\plugins\SkinPlugin\Resources\ folder. That may be a more advanced type of topic that should be fleshed out later under maybe "Putting it all together" or "Packaging your theme".

Fair enough. Again, this is because I have got to the party late, but I always thought it weird that some of the components were not in the skin2 folder. I remember using the plugin and realized that some of the definitions were actually referencing other xml files a graphics that were NOT in the skin2 folder. It was always my intention to bug you guys enough so there could have been a more centralized storage. That way it's easier to find the components because they're all in the same place.

The location of files was one of the newbie stumbling blocks I first found as I got into it. That's why I thought to mention this here. Perhaps a passing reference that links to a more detailed explanation...

 Everything that the CommunitySkin uses is in the Skin2\Community3\ or Skin\Community3\ folder. There are no other external references. The SkinPlugin does have its own storage location that I indicated before.

The image folder used by the skin is \Skin2\Community3\_CoreImages. The SkinPlugin duplicates this folder in the \Skin\ directory for legacy plugins. Granted there are images within plugin skin folders here and there, but those are plugin specific and are not "Common" among other plugins.

I'll break down the folders and maybe that explanation will clear things up.
