I would use "=77250,0,0" but yeah, that would be the way to do it. Your current mappings do not get cleared when you do a new scan so you can scan and just map that channel leaving the others as is. As you suspected, you can then just copy that line from the scan cache to the old one and then restore it.

Well... it didn't work. It bombed. So I just modified the full QAM.INI that came with GBPVR and it didn't find the station after the long scan.. sigh. WinTV latches onto it immediately and shows it is very high quality.

Any ideas on how I can force GBPVR to find this channel? I watch PBS a lot and really want to be able to record it.

I broke down and used the QAM.ini Manager program and created a center channel frequency version of the qam.ini file in the GBPVR/BDA/ATSC fldr. Then I edited the qam.ini file to make 0=7 so it only scans up through entry 7 (saved scan time), since all I wanted was number 5. I could have set it to 5 I guess, but I decided to pad it a bit. Using this approach, it found the PBS channel (5-808) at Freq 77250. Hurrah....

Thanks goes out to the author of qam.ini manager!! I can now watch NOVA, Masterpiece, etc. in 16:9 1080i HD!!

It would be nice if GBPVR would provide an option in the Config.exe scan that would allow trying by channel or by these variants created by qam.ini manager.

Ok so i am using a HDHR and when i scan for channels, it seems to only find ones that are encrypted.. I am able to view channels using VLC.. any logs i should post?

Some thing odd.. When i do a full channel scan it seems to lock up after it is done.. causing me to end the task and re-open it, it does however save these channels it found.

EDIT:: and on the "Digital Channel Mapping" screen I dont have the section for "Tuning Request".. I am following the guide here.. I do have it under "Edit recording source" however.

My scans also often locked up and as you said, the results were there after restarting config.exe. You are not alone...

I'm so confuse with all this, since been only a week working with GBPVR and the configuration of all these is killing me.
Basically I have Comcast Cable in Miami. All I need is to receive my channels in the range lower than 70 and any Clear QAM or digital channels they trasmit.

The hard time I'm having is to map those channels to the EPG. On my HVR1600 I have connected the cable to the TV IN port and the ANT IN port using a splitter.

Will be easier for new people coming to use this, where we could have Profiles of configuration for different cable providers (This could be a wishlist) and just load them and start watching TV, however for now we have to the terrible channel scan.

So I see the app always overwrites the qam.ini under the "GBPVR\BDA\ATSC". Is this the file gbpvr always use? What is the purpose of the cache file?

If anyone could help me with my config just PM or post it here.

The default qam.ini scans by channel number. Windows then translates this number into a frequency and tunes to that frequency. It also allows you to limit the number of channels to scan since most cable companies only broadcast QAM on channel 70+.

I have been using GB-PVR for 3-4 years now and your experience is like that of most of us. Once it settles into place through all these config interations, GBPVR is SLICK and you will have a smile on your face everytime you use it, but up until then, you will be muttering under your breath with occasional tantrums... ;-)

Second, only to sub's GBPVR, is the forum. Without it I believe GBPVR would not have anywhere near the penetration it has in the PVR market. It is truly a community formed around sub's slick product...

I am not sure why you connected to both ports. You only need to connect once, from what I understand. My 1600 is getting all channels (analog and QAM).

If you use only a single port, which one do you use? The HVR1600 manual shows an input for Analog cable TV in (top connector) and another for ATSC/QAM digital TV in (2nd from top).
