Is changing the standard size just a matter of changing a text string or is there more to it. I would like the sharper text.

Kev

To change the viewable Area, it's not much to do. But it's not the only thing to to, then... if you change the Resolution, the Text-Size shrinks. The Buttons aren't no longer centered and their size is shrinked.

You have to viel at this all. If you look at your config.xml in the skin-root, you'll see that all buttons are arranged over coordinates. If you think a little bit, you can make you dream-skin without problems =)

Many thank ShiningDragon. Will look at the xml file. Pity the button and text coordinates are not relative. I have a calculator so can probably manage the transformation.

But please make a backup of this file before you alter it. And you should test it often (best after each change) if GB-PVR start's without error-message.

seems like we are talking of how to beautyfy AND how to increase usability of gbpvr.

i think it is quite usable. there isn't too much information on the main screen, no confusing animation and so on. concerning graphics you can do much things now.

but there are a few design-rules, which we shouldn't ignore: the main ones are:

- keep the interface simple (quite simple in gbpvr)
- give help to new users (task-description....)
- add shortcuts for the pro-users (works also)

when it comes to the standard-skin, it would be good to have this skin show every panel on the main menu, the task-images and the task-description. the skin should be available in horizontal, vertical and centered view. and then the user should be able to switch off the panels and change the menu-style in the config-app.

for usuability i would love a "settings" plugin inside gbpvr (would work best if sub set this interface, then plugins just implemented that interface).

gbpvr is pretty simple as is, and navigation does make sense. just needs a new skin.

yes, a settings-plugin would be very cool. and downloading and installing plugins via web would also be nice (we thought of a plugin long ago....never done this...) + an update-feature. changing skins and/or backgrounds while gbpvr runs and so on....

but first of all we need a nice new standard-skin. how about posting some ideas? screenshots maybe? or discuss existing ideas?

I'm extremely impressed with the expertise and willingness to put in so much time by many of you guys. Thank you from me.

I am hopeless artistically but would like to see some wow/pretty factor!

I would also like to say that I think it has to be really good for the technologically challenged, not just geeks! (The WAF factor shouldn't be underestimated for obvious reasons).

Can we also make the output fit the TV screen reliably through different revisions? Fiddling with offsets in an xml file is not a great selling point! And nor is resetting things in the config screens.

It will be exciting watching this develop!

I've tried this idea, the colours don't work on the tv though (at leased not through the tv-out on my VIA motherboard (which isn't good anyway) where the red looks almost fluorescent like)...

Agreed. I really liked your PSP-ish menu design. I think that's a great starting point for a new skin. Sub - What is your take on horizontal menus?

I like it. Clean and neat. I'd prefer blue over red (personal preference really) but otherwise it's a great start.
