here is my feeble attempt using nothing but mspaint.  My computer with Photoshop is down for the moment so I'm doing this on my gbpvr machine.  I was trying to combine all the letters into one look and feel...I am hoping if someone else likes this type of thing, they can use it in their own design with some more color and possible effects

Choice #1 with 45 degree rotation so that the 'v' becomes more visable

Wow... You should get top prize in the "How many letters can I fit into one symbol" category.... [Image: smile.gif]

[b Wrote:Quote[/b] (narkuma @ Mar. 06 2005,00:20)]hm, perhaps you could leave away the letters at all and try to make a logo which everyone will associate with gbpvr automatically. a logo which has no meaning, totally abstract...
...like the mercedes benz star.
logos with letters always look so "homebrew".
Not a good idea. Symbols were originally always accompanied by either a brand name or another identifier.
Only after a significant amount of time (indeed Mercedes Benz) the symbol has become a brand of it's own.
And that's only given a few. ( After al lot of money spent on advertising and branding).
cheers, :arttext

well, I did not mean to leave the logo all alone. The letters may stand just under the logo. I just meant that a logo looks better without letters IN it.

OK, Sub, I'm sorry it took forever, but here are the color fills you asked about. They are obviously not as artistic as some of the awesome art here, but sometimes simple and to the point is good...

These thumbnails were quickly scaled, and look awful compared to the originals(especially the white one), that could be scaled much better if the logos are liked. The full-size versions are here, for those of you that want to check out the original high-resolution art, which looks much, much better.

The first four were made using two colors sampled from your software's icon(the little TV), and the last two are just a pure blue border with a solid green or red center, possibly useful for a recording service status icon. The last two could be easily scaled very small and cleaned up very nice. If you wanted to see the circular border thicker, the letters thinner, etc., just drop the word...

PS - Sub, especially take a look at the full-sized logo with the two blended colors. I think the blend of your two colors looks awesome for a larger logo, in spite of the logo design, itself [Image: smile.gif] ....

Really like that last one Dimov, looks really professional. Has a familiar feeling to it which is great for a logo.
