Here's a second update with the Restrict setting using the 24hr clock.

Code:
<Restrict>10:00-14:00</Restrict>

If you try live tv starting in that range (and no other tuners are available) it will mark this tuner not available, and if you try a recording you will get a message like the image.

When you set this you need consider your pre-padding time, so it should be at least 1 minute before the pre-padding amount. If the recording has started this setting has no effect.

Note this logic could get in the way of tuner allocations, so your if you have tuners other than your Dreamboxes you might want to consider adding the "restricted" tuners at the lowest priority.

cool martin -
there are other tuners - dvb-t though so the channel sets are kept separate -
but are you implying that when the search for a matching channel hits the restricted tuner and fails - any remaining tuners of lower priority are not searched -
if so thats important to know - I'll set the concerned one at lowest priority to be safe.

Not quite, but I will let you read what sub wrote http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post434260

I think that's the best idea.

Yes, and it is attached now.

Martin - found my not changing channel error - turns out I missed the "path=" part of the command when setting up the channels in bulk -
the first one would work after a reboot though - strange -

anyway - have fixed that up and have tuning working again - with all 88 channels
BUT
tried your later dll - the last one sent today - still with only a single tuner - and i get a Unable to communicate error every time - and the tuner
is stuck recording again.

looks like the change you made today due to my misleading error is a no go -
as a result of that I've not yet been able to try the restrict option.

have rolled dll back to the working version for the moment

got it installed - but had some issues - it would appear that changing the dll and the xml file to add the second tuner device back in - but at a time when the
second tuner is "restricted" causes some issues! like trying to add the tuner in but then not being able to find it !

After a few reboots, rollbacks and some substantial waiting - the system is back and happy with both dreamboxes defined and no channel loss (was a worry that Id lost npvr.db3 for a while).

Will try adding the dll back tonight and then the restiction -
so a warning - dont add a restricted tuner during the restriction period -
really should have thought that one through more before the attempt ......

more to come

I don't think that the restriction was the issue, unless you were trying to record when you start (but you shouldn't be restarting the service during a recording either)

Likely the issue was related to how you took out and then reinstalled the second tuner, it is not a trivial exercise. I may even have needed to modify the db3 file.

Hi,

I had my dreambox channels working very nicely for some time, but I'm having problems since the latest NPVR update. I now get a black screen every time I try to play one of the channels, or a recording taken from it. The stream is initiated, and I can watch the resulting live TV file, or recording, in both WMP and VLC.

I booted my server from a system drive backup from a month or so ago, with NPVR 2.3.6, and everything works fine there. I haven't changed decoders, or any other settings I can think of since I made the backup.

Any idea what could be going wrong?

Logs attached.

The file looks to be growing ok, so NetworkRecorder seems to be working as it should and the video stream types look right. If a copy of the "live" file plays in NextPVR then you might be able to modify <delay>???</delay> in NetworkRecorder.xml to a longer time (in ms), it is possible that Reader2 needs more data to configure itself.

If not, you will likely need to get sub's attention, the log doesn't seem to be showing where NextPVR figures out the proper aspect ratio and audio type and 0x8104 event codes that I see here.

I can't play the recordings in NPVR at all, even if I navigate to the recording through 'Video'. I will post something in the NPVR support forum, with a chunk of video.

Thanks for taking a look.
