For me it is a few things.

- it desn't work with WMC
- you don't have have the install CD or web d/l to install approved drivers for your o/s
- NextPVR never found the ATI BDA device
- "Unable to locate crossbar filter." after SofPVR was finally installed

Like I said, I'd give it a final try...just not sure what to do??

I un-installed the original driver provided by manufacturer (from disk) and successfully installed the link provided driver - AMD Catalyst™ Display Driver ver. 10.4

Please advise.

Thanks,

What driver version is now liisted in Device Manager and does it still say "device is working properly"?

More importantly, when you open NextPVR's Settings->Devices page, do you see more devices now? (ATSC, QAM, DVB-T) Is WMC able to detect the tuner now?

As thisheat pointed out earlier, it's quite possible that this is a hardware problem. As others have mentioned, Hauppauge is a good tuner brand. My 6-year-old card has given me no problems at all.

Looking back at your original post, there's something that escaped attention but might be significant:

garevalo Wrote:Prior to this I checked and updated to get latest ".NET Framework"...gasp!

Why did you even mention that? Did you have reason to suspect that your .NET Framework was broken by updates? There's another recent thread in which a Windows 7 user encountered serious problems after installing Windows updates pertaining to .NET: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...s-updates&

Thanks for your response Jeb,

Driver listed in device manager: ATI Unified AVStream Driver ver. 6.15.10.501

I do not see the statement "device is working properly". Here is more info from Device Manager" - Status: "Needs troubleshooting"

Furthermore -
After windows troubleshoot: couldn't identify the problem
Properties\device status: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

When I go to NextPVR's Settings->Devices page - as stated previously, it now lists my device w/the one channel we set up. I do not see more devices.

FWIW The tech at Diamond's first line of attack to solve everything was the updates. I had been doing updating as windows suggested, but he had me run win update and install. Indeed the concern re: .NET Framework (that was not fully updated) was resolved. Unfortunately, this may have solve something, but still the "TV Tuner was not detected". It is still not detected by WMC or the vendor provided TotalMedia.

I might now need to setup my cable channels and see if viewing is possible - namely earlier suggestions, or going to schedulesdirect.org???

Hi, garevalo. Glad to see you're stcking with it. Smile

As to your current problem though... ugh.

The error message you posted above usually refers to Win7's annoying refusal to load drivers not specifically signed as being made for your hardware. It's designed to "protect you from yourself", but sometimes gets in the way, like now.

You can try forcing the drivers to load, but I can't really help with that, nor do I necessarily recommend it. If you'd like to see what's involved, there is a lot of good info in this link:
http://www.mydigitallife.info/force-load...overrider/

And of course, there is still the possibility that the HW is defective. Sad

Don't worry about setting up the SchedulesDirect stuff yet. If the single test channel isn't working, that won't make any difference. At the risk of making a terrible analogy, it doesn't matter how many pots and pans are in the kitchen if the stove doesn't work.

Sorry I can't be of more help on this one. Hopefully someone else on the forum has more experience with this issue....

Yes, sad indeed. Interesting article, but not sure I want to go this route.

Please clarify - the install from CD driver allowed for the test channel setup. Meaning...that driver allowed for "device working properly". Why didn't we use this setup?

If still possible, can SchedulesDirect stuff be then programmed using driver version 6.15.10.501?

We did try to use that setup, but got the message that no tuners were available.

You could go ahead and do the SchedulesDirect setup now; the reason I keep saying not to is that that will start the clock running on the free trial, so if you return/replace the tuner (which is looking more and more likely), your trial may have expired by the time the replacement arrives.

Terrible analogies, round two:
Your computer is the restaurant. NPVR is the waiter, and TV Guide/SD is the menu. Your tuner is the chef.

With the test channel, you're basically saying, "I don't need a menu. Just bring me whatever the chef is making now. I want to see if he can cook."
NPVR says, "Certainly! I'll go get that now." Then he returns a moment later and says, "Um, sorry, I can't find the chef."
It's time to fire the chef. Wink

About the only troubleshooting option left is to try the tuner on an XP/Vista machine, if you have access to one. If it works, the driver is bad. If not, the HW is bad. Since it would be incredibly nervy to ship a product without a working driver, I'm leaning towards number two. Either way, I'm all out of ideas for this tuner. Either ship it back for replacement or try another model.

OK, I am SO slow. Remember when we finally got to the point where (see post #78);
- "Devices" is showing the analog tuner
- Added "TV" channel
- Clicking it does produce the "Watch" option
- single "TV" channel is working

But thisheat is stating:
"We did try to use that setup, but got the message that no tuners were available"

Which post was this???
What "test" did we follow with to get this message?
I just remember it took a while to get the single TV channel working with the original driver.

Anyway, I'm not following the logic, as to what test affirms that the original driver has an issue...

Any that follow-up on sub's request way back in post #3

As a minimum we should see the BDA drivers and after SoftPVR is installed the analog device should show up.
