I've been using yapi on my old server which was XP based, but now I have Vista Ultimate on a new machine I'm building. I had some questions:

1) Can I run the whole EPG thing without a tuner card? Reason is it's located on the other server I will eventually be replacing and would like to get this up and running before switching over.


2) Do I have to fire up media center before installing and get the epg up on that first? If that's the case, do I need the tuner card for that?

You will need to install a tuner in your vista machine config th MCE EPG so that it's working right. Y you should then be able to pull th tuner card and then use MCE2XML

Hello,

I keep getting the same error as other people get. I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1

ERROR STATUS: ERSTATUS_DLFILEERROR
ERROR STRING:

I'm retrieving two listings (DISH533- and CT56421-) and both intermittently fail. I'd say it works once in every 5 times. I've tried removing the EPG directory under Appdata and stopping/restarting the services. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

Anything else I can try?

I have Satellite and Basic Cable (North America). I Map my basic cable channels from 1-22 up to 9950-9962. I used to use Yapi which was able to do this before the load. Whats the best way to do this now i'm using MceEpg2XML?

I didn't implement channel renumbering to the new version but it is something I hope to add in the near future. You could try changing the channel numbers in the "Channels" tab of GBPVR config.

I renamed the Channels from say "WCBS" to "9952 WCBS" in the "Edit Recording Source" page in GBPVR, unfortunately in the guide it still just shows as WCBS. Is this a question for sub?

Nah, I'll add the renumbering support before he gets back from his trip. Give me till Monday and I'll have something for you.

For all those having issues with the downloader. Make sure that when you set up your EPG in MCE that you tell it not to perform updates automatically. I suspect that MCE has initiated the EPG update and it is in the process of running when the downloader attempts to run.

thanks. that may be a huge point. I've had trouble with it for so long I almost gave up.

Maybe there's a reg value in mce that you could query and flip, so that someone doesn't have to rerun the mce setup...?

My situation is a little different. If I don't run MceEpgDownloader regularly and my database is stale, I get the ERSTATUS_DLFILEERROR error and have to go to VMC and start a manual EPG update. Then I cancel it and reset all the service settings and remove the EPG update from startup. Once or twice I even had to re-add my device.
