short background here , I have 4 cable TV outlets,1 cable for broadband and 1 cable for residential cable telephone in the house all installed by the cable company . I have 3 digital terminals , one is rented and the other 2 are owned by me. Since I hooked up my PVR , I split the cable going to one of the terminals so I could feed one cable to the PVR and one to the digital box. I used a high quality splitter (digital 5-2300mhz) . Just recently the box with the split cable has been pixelating and freezing (just like bad sat reception) I did an swap with another terminal and problem gone. I called the cable co and they said over the phone that the box in question had a bad signal and they would send someone over to look at it.(but I proved switching boxes fixed the problem???) Long story short (not really) they came when I wasn't here , showed my wife a tester they hooked up and showed her a low signal strength. They said I can't split the cable anymore since I have 6 devices already using the cable , but they could up the strength for an additional $8/month.
Has anyone had any expierience with any of the newer digital cable amps that I have seen on google?

Thanks

When they hooked up our cable...after about 2 years...we started getting a weak signal... They came out and hooked up an amplifier..I dont think we were paying extra..We canceled cable and still have it Smile It works great for OTA digital signals...

I think DC something makes it...The same people who make the highend digital splitters etc..

I doubt they run a second line , they probably just add an amp. For $8/month I could buy a very good amplifier. I'm just looking to see if anyone is using one on digital cable and the brand/quality of the amp,

My line is split in the basement two ways. The half of the split that goes upstairs is then split 4 ways - PVR-150, VCR, cable modem, and digital cable tuner. I was getting a bad signal on a couple of channels with the PVR-150, so I bought whatever cheapo bidirectional cable signal amplifier they had at Radio Shack and put it in front of the 4-way split. I think it was 30 or 40 (US) bucks. My recordings have improved, and my digital cable and cable internet still work (though I haven't used PPV since then). I think the function of the device is simple enough that it really doesn't matter who makes it. Just make sure to get a bidirectional one that doesn't cut off at a low frequency.
