I'm happy with Gmail and UKCinema plugins, and looking at the Volume OSD errors, but I need ideas for a new project.

So I ask all you lovely people to post with your ideas for new plugins for me (or indeed anyone) to have a go at if they look interesting / useful.

Over to you....

Here was my idea - nonsense like this is easy to come up with when you haven't got a clue about programming...

Set up your PVR to capture subtitles (either OTA or from a DVD) to a log file in the background. Use a dictionary file to then parse the last 30secs worth or so for nouns. Then, when you hear someone on tv say "blah blah Paris Hilton blah blah" (for example), you hit the 'info' button on your remote and -

- it pauses live tv, performs a google "I'm feeling lucky" search, and then displays the resulting web page!

Cool eh? The only question is... what have I been drinking? Smile

A basic calendar plugin. Something to be able to use remote to flip through a calendar showing monthly displays. It wouldn't need much to start with.

It could be expanded upon after that to maybe set reminders and use the reminder panel plugin. Not necessarily a full blown appointment manager.

You beat me to it! i second fatmans idea. Maybe using iCal format? I was thinking it would be cool to do this as i use someones published iCal calender to tell me when the next Formula 1 grand prix is so i dont miss it...would be cool if i could pull up the info via the PVR though, then i could jump straight to the Guide to schedule it.

Or for complete pointless-but-fun-showoffability, how about a Google Earth plugin?

How about a front end for some of the Bittorrent RSS reader apps you can get. for example Azureus has a plugin that reads RSS feeds and automatically downloads shows you specify when they are released, based on a number of criteria (episode numbers, format etc).

Possibly even creating a database entry once downloaded (maybe use the MPEG import tool on the WiKi?) so the new download shows up in recordings page?

Again not a programmer so ive no idea as to feasability, but it would be a cool feature...? And for me a definate WAF winner!

Its using the bittorrent system. .torrent tracker files are posted to a website such as http://www.thepiratebay.com and then your client (azureus, bittornado, bitcomet etc) uses the tracker to locate users with similair files and downloads different bits from different people. With the RSS reader the plugin uses RSS feeds published by the torrent sites in categories (ie tv shows, films apps, games etc) and if it finds an instance of a show you are looking for starts the bittorrent client downloading it.

EDIT: Shouldnt say too much about how i use this!

What about a media collection plugin. Something akin to the Movie Collection Starter kit here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downlo...arterkits/.

This is something I had planned to tackle as a plugin when I get the time (if that ever happens), only I was going to pull the movie data from netflix so I could have a genre attached and could search for movies in my collection by that. I was also going to add a location field so I could quickly find the DVD/VHS, and another field to track who (if anyone) it was loaned out to. Eventually, I thought I'd expand it to include my CD's and tapes.

However, if someone else would like to tackle it first and/or do it better than I could, please have at it.
