I have most of Ricklous' suggestion working. I'm able to isolate the IR Ports.

But I'm writing a batch file, and I'm having a dickens with string parsing...

I want to take a passed three digit variable, like: 567 and separate the first, second and third digits. After filling the variables, %first% , %second% and %third% I want to call another batch file like this

call Fire1 %first%
call Fire1 %second%
call Fire1 %third%

I just don't know how to extract the first, second and third digits...

Any ideas?

Greek Wizard,

No, you can't control more than one device with your IR Blasters, but you can at least use one of them to control one box and another IR device to control the other box.

The USB-UIRT works well and doesn't require any other software for use with gbpvr. You can use Girder or HIP to so some other fancy stuff with it, but if all you want to do is change channels within gbpvr, you only need the hardware and the driver that comes with it.

By the way, the IR port on your STB isn't for taking input, it's a blaster used to control other devices, specifically VCRs. You could presumably use it to turn your VCR on and start recording something.

The serial port could work with your boxes, but most cable companies won't enable them. Mine wouldn't so I went with the USB-UIRT. Works great.

Good luck,
Tim

I have had success configuring the solution Ricklous suggested. And it even tunes the DCT faster than HIP. But I have another couple of things I have to iron out before I post a walkthough. Should be a day or so...

I have made contact with HIPs author, and he seems willing to make changes to Hipsend.exe.

I'm looking forward to trying it out in the next few days. I will be happy to report the results...

That is all I would want it for, to change channels.

I guess I will see if anyone has one here where I live to test out and try out first before I buy it.

Thanks.

Thanks.

I'm in Calgary. I'll be happy to include locale specific info, though I think this solution will be pretty generic.

As written before, you MAY not be able to use the Receiver buds from your 150s.

I don't know where you are, but Memory Express has MCE Remotes for 49.95 CAN. It works great AND feels more solid than the remote from your 150s. Plus I love the light up buttons...

zehd,

I am in Calgary as well. (Douglas Glen SE)

However I am not sure why you mentioned the MCE Remote at MemEx.

wtg nailed it dead on. I simple want to go to the TV Guide in GBPVR, select the shows I want to record, and that's it. I want GBPVR to change the DCT channels for me (on both would be ideal).

I am not looking at changing the channels with anything but GBPVR, so yet another remote would be useless to me (I have 3 Harmony's, 1 Kameleon 8-1, 1 RCA learning remote, and a pile of universal remotes).

If USB-UIRT is the way to go, then so be it, I will get it.. I was just hoping to try it out first to ensure I was not wasting my $CDN cash and dealing with customs, etc.

I did understand what you wanted. I suggested the MCE remote not for the remote but for the well supported Receiver beanbag and the IR blasters that come with it. Again, the UBB-UIRT would also work, but with CDN exchange, could be more money.

Unless Hauppauge wants to change things, you won't be able to use both of your IR buds, connected to your individual PVR150 to control the 2 DCTs.

It's true that I was not finding a direct solution for what you already had. After I discovered that your IR blasters would not operate individually, I started to look for alternatives...

What I found was USB-UIRT, which may work without anyone writing any thing new, and MCE Remote's beanbag and blasters, which will probably work after HIP's writer finishes with the improvement that he's promised in the next couple of days..

I will keep you (all) infomred...

Good news people! I have finished testing and documenting the new release of HIP. I have to say that it works great.

Check out the documentation. http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/HipGuide2

Also: I modified the original HipGuide to reflect that HIP can now do Multiple STBs

Have fun!
