Harmony 688 Remote

I have just received one of these as the "FINAL" answer to my multiple remotes. Has anyone else installed this to work with MVP and GBPVR? The initial setup recognized the mediamvp but ignored it when setting up activities! I have added it as a media PC for "Show Presentation" and it had a go at figuring what the remote was by testing three keys in learn mode. I haven't tested it yet (wife watching "Desperate Housewives"!!) but will do so in half an hour.

If someone has used it I would be very interested in hearing of their experiences.

Funny enough I have exactly the same device waiting to be setup so will be interested to hear how you get on!

I have a Harmony 659 and it works great. I haven't setup my MVP yet but the remote works for GBPVR with no problems. Try using WinTV-PVR-150 instead of the MediaMVP it works for me.

You probably know already, you can create your own activities, so you can make it as you like. Takes some creative thinking as I recall, but it works very well. I guess you already know the Harmony forum:

Do you use the web or the local setup-program, afaik the web-config works a lot quicker: http://members.harmonyremote.com

I have the Harmony 520 and it works fine with my Hauppauge PVR150 and GBPVR. This was one of the easier ones that I had to setup.


PS. Try the web based software instead of the local client - I think the web based software is much better.

Yea, looks good to me, too. It has no problems with the Hauppauge remote codes. The biggest problems are finding the right codes to send to the TV etc for the appropriate inputs!

BTW, has anyone mapped the colour keys? Which omes did you use?

Did you notice the site with the secret codes: http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/codes/
Those can be very helpful, some TV's do have seperate codes for their inputs, but their remotes don't have buttons for it.

Even better, I found that the Harmony device database had all the inputs for my TV, including the two that had both analogue and component inputs.
