Hello all,

Well, it's late in coming, but I've sent the first version of the Jukebox plugin to Sub (source code included). The interface is rough, but quite usable. Please add comments, suggestions and bugs to this thread or e-mail me directly.

I will definitely be improving the interface, but the functionality is almost 100% feature-complete from my perspective (only missing ID3 tag support).

Thanks!

Sub is checking the plugin over. He says some of the APIs that I'm using have changed for the next version of GB-PVR and wants to make sure the Jukebox won't break as soon as he puts out version 18.

brturn,

I can't this to work on the MVP, is it suppose to ?, just so I know if its my setup or not thats causing the problem.

It begins playing a track but doesn't behave correctly after then, it brings up an initial screen but then never completes or even starts building the music database.

Works really well on the PC interface though, thumbs up from me.

Hi Bryan,

Same for me. Looks and works great on the PC, but can't get it to work on the MVP. It gets stuck where lagrian says. However you can press the 'right' key (vol up) and the interface moves on so you can navigate around directories etc. but a .NET framework error is generated on the PC and the selected tracks aren't played. The Now Playing aways shows none.

Can't wait to see it working on the MVP....

If you need any info about the failure, let me know,

Thanks for the reports. I don't personally own an MVP, which is why the MVP support is a little rocky. I'll try to borrow one from my coworker and ferret out the problem.

Sub - How do I debug the MVP interface process from DevStudio? Is there a special process I have to attach to, etc?

Thanks,

Hi Bryan,

First impressions of your Jukebox is great! This will be so good once it works on the MVP (fingers crossed it will!Wink. After playing around with it for a bit, I have the following suggestions in addition to your future features in the readme.txt which you may like to consider. I know that everyone has different ideas so they may not suit everyone, but here they are:

- Option to specify the first "random" track within the configurator. I have some real rubbish in my collection, which your jukebox plugin always manages to seek out! [Image: biggrin.gif] Specifying a first track would allow time to add something half decent to the list before the first track finishes. Alternatively, don't play anything until a first track is selected, THEN play random if the list runs out. (automatic playing of random tracks at startup could be turned on and off in the configurator?)
- "Stop" and "Main Menu" button for consistancy and easy of use.
- Cover art displayed from the directory of the playing track (folder.jpg) if available, like in the "Now Playing" section of Media Player.
- Brief confirmation that the selected track has been added. Pop up with "Added" or something displayed very briefly, automatically disappears if any key is pressed so the process of adding tracks is not slowed down. Feels more robust with confirmations.
- Some way to re-use the database of tracks. i.e. only re-search for media if selected. Could be an "update" on the configurator possibility? This would speed start up times after restarts if your media library doesn't often change
- Removal of settings button within the configurator. If no options are going to be specified, the removal of the "Setting" button which currently brings up a weather plugin setting box.

Keep up the good work! The only problem I now have is too many good plugins, the buttons are almost off the screen!

Very nice!

a couple of suggestions (using the silver hauppauge remote to control it):

- Use the Replay / Skip buttons only for song changes and not also to go up / down directories. The left / right keys can do the job alone [Image: smile.gif]

- Use the "mobile phone" text input to search for songs, that would make it very quick to find the song you're looking for.

- The FF and REW buttons types letters in the search box (F and R). Maybe they could be used for something else

- Some way to jump to / from the playlist window to the music selector window. Maybe with one of the coloured buttons or Go or something [Image: smile.gif]

- A way to edit the playlist / maybe even saving it for later.

- Limit the number of times a song can be selected in a row.

- An option to turn the "animation" of the music selector / playlist windows off, it's quite slow on my computer.

Kepp up the good work, I'm also looking forward to id3 tags [Image: biggrin.gif]

I've spotted why the music wasn't playing correctly on the MVP, and have corrected it for the next release of GB-PVR.

There is something funny going on with the jukebox animation on the MVP so I'll need to have a look at this also.
