PAUSED Video playback enhancements

1. Ability to manually invoke the screensaver when video is paused. [I prefer pausing to stopping so I don't have to renavigate the listed recordings to get back to my video.] [During video playback there should be a host of unused buttons on the MVP remote!]

2. Ability to manually turn OFF the OSD (i.e. playback position, file info, clock, etc.) while video is paused (i.e. before the automatic timer does the same).

On my MVP, at least, paused video is always initially overlayed with a GBPVR-generated "darkening" mask (as part of the OSD) which makes it difficult to see what I am pausing to see!


My apologies if either of these features already exist -- in which case I also hope someone will point me in the right direction.

I have tried enabling that option in every version up to (but not including) 0.96.12. It never made any apparent difference.

I'll try it again tonight with 0.96.12 and let you know.

The only reason it wouldnt make a difference, is if you have reverted to an older version of dongle.bin than the one supplied with GB-PVR.

I do now . . . and the OSD is now fully transparent. [My bad! But this did NOT work in the past, although it may have well have been the dongle.bin issue as you stated in your subsequent post. Sorry for my oversight.]

A couple notes:

1. Now the OSD flashes a neon pink color when going into pause mode. This is a little distracting.

2. I still hope you will program the ability to immediately "dismiss" the OSD while paused. Even when "fully transparent," the time/position indicator (top) and the program details (bottom) sometimes visually interfere with what one is pausing to see. [At least the majority of the screen is visible now, though.]
