Are you sure it is not the same as my prob (see prev page?). If you check the XP Applications Log you will probably see the offending dll as I did.

Yeah, I agree. Tipstir, look in the Event Logger.

You might also get some useful info by clicking on the "What data does this error report contain" link.

I couldn't get it to work with gbpvr.bin (which I see you are using Tipstir) - switched to dongle.bin and it works fine.

Your best bet is to actually look into the error you were getting with v0.97.7, giving me more info, or its likely to go unfixed. At this point there hasnt been anything serious popup for anyone else, so I can only assume its some minor setting or other issue on your machine.

It may have been something to do with uninstalling .net 1.1. I dont know for sure that anyone has done this yet.

Hey Tipstir,

How about an upgrade install from 96.12? Just did one myself and things seem to be running fine.

Also, where is the option to use sqlite located? And would I need to install sqlite seperately or is that something that's bundled with GBPVR (yeah, it's a newb question; don't have much experience with databas stuff)?

The Automatic Aspect Ratio appears to be based on square pixels and is making SDTV picture wrong. Is there a way of adjusting this?

i think, and I can be corrected, that if you use the changeDatabase executable, one of the options is to start using the SQL-Lite database after it copies everything first..

sub Wrote:I've just uploaded the new v0.97.7 release to http://www.gbpvr.com/GBPVR09707.msi

ITS VERY IMPORTANT YOU READ THE FOLLOWING:

This release requires .NET 2.0 to be installed. You must install this before upgrading. You can get it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...laylang=en

NOD32, Panda Antivirus and Net Limiter are known to be incompatible with .NET 2.0 Remoting, which is used by GB-PVR. If any of these apps are installed on your machine, they will cause the Recording Service crash, so they must be uninstalled before installing this update.

As always, its recommended that you backup your config.xml and gbpvr.mdb files if you're upgrading from a previous release.

Much of the development time for this release has gone into background like moving to .NET 2.0, changing database and having another daughter, but I have still managed to add in a few new features to keep things progressing forward.

I recommend switching back to the default Blue skin until your skin of choice has been updated for compatibility with this new release.

If you encounter problems with anything starting. I recommend the first thing you try is disabling all plugins with the checkbox on the plugins screen of the config app. Most of the original .net 1.1 plugins work fine, but some will need to updated by their respective authors.

The change log lists:

No, its not based on square pixels. It quite complex to explain all the rules (and I cant be arsed at the moment), the general idea is as follows.

It depends on the type media, and tv shape. In the case of AVI content, the resolution of the video is treated as the source aspect ratio. For MPEG content, its based on the aspect ratio from the MPEG sequence header rather than the resolution. This information, and the new TV shape setting in the config app, is used to determine how the video should be shown.

This only applies to the "auto" aspect ratio. Other aspect ratios behave similar to how they have in the past.
