I'm feeling a bit lost without SlimmGBPVR now that I've updated to 97.07.
Is it an easy fix to get this fine add-on working again?

Thanks in advance.

There is an easy fix but it will produce a performance hit until I work out another way of determining when GBPVR is recording (about 2-3% cpu on a AMD3200 every minute or so compared to 0% at the moment). Currently, SlimmGBPVR monitors changes to GBPVR.mdb directly in order to turn the green light on or off but this is the only dodgy thing it does. I do not know how the GBPVRtray.exe does this (or how it shows which recording devices are recording what). Perhaps I will put in a humble request to sub for some guidance on how to achieve the green light and recording device info in a fully GBPVR legal way.

As soon as I have fixed the utility, I will create a new post. Thanks for you support and comment, it is greatly appreciated.

To further complicate matters, users may be moving toward SQLlite as a backend DB, so the gbpvr.mdb solution might not apply to everyone.

Keep up the good work!

Indeed. With the next release of GBPVR, SQLite will be the only solution for the backend. I shall issue an update for SlimmGBPVR as soon as possible.

Here is a beta version of SlimmGBPVR that should be compatible with v09707. I have used it for a day or so (I am using the SQLite database) and it seems to be okay. Feedback appreciated.

This also includes the command-line utility GBPVRcli, also updated to work with v0.97.07.

Direct download link for Slimm GBPVR v.0.97.07 compatible beta version

Features:
  • GBPVR v0.97.07 support. Note: this version of SlimmGBPVR is not compatible with any GBPVR version prior to this. If you are still using an earlier version of GBPVR you can download the last known fully stable release (Direct download link) or the last compatible beta release (Direct download link).
  • The next few pending recordings are now available to be cancelled from the right-click menu.

Hey Slimm... so I guess with using SQLite, there should be no compacting issue any more then (I wonder if compacting is even required now). So does that mean the EPG disconnect is not really needed anymore?

Yes, good point. SQLite shouldn't get superbloat on file size, however, it doesn't support concurrency meaning that if I'm reading it (about once every two seconds) at the same time GBPVR is trying to write a new EPG (or vice versa), one of us is going to be disappointed. Both of our programs should just try again a little later.

What I'll do is add an option to disable the disconnect and then we can see whether it affects the EPG update at all. Thanks for pointing this out.

ummm... i was also looking the documentation on SQLite 3 (see http://www.sqlite.org/lockingv3.html) and is seems the concurrency has been significatly improved with v3. but yeah, i would expect all calls to the DB to include a delay and retry exception handler....
