Since some time i am a user of GBPVR. I can tell you that you did a darn good job.

I've installed the new version 97.7 and i can tell you it ran practicly imidiatly.

Except for one thing: Maybe you can tell me the reason for that.
I have all my DVD ISO's on HDD and play them with Deamontool. Works great, except for the new version. Playback is very choppy. It looks that GBPVR player is very slow since the upgrade. Even DVD's from my DVD drive are not play-able.

I did some testing around with Different MPEG Decoders. I thing Intervideo did the job. Only the first 10-20seconds are still very choppy. Overlay is put into overlay mode right know.

Hopefully you can review your Player, because all other players are playing without any problems.

It looks that GBPVR player is very slow since the upgrade.

GBPVR does not have a 'player', it just uses Windows components to play DVDs, MPEGs etc.

Might want to search on the Wiki/forums for "poor MPEG playback".

How come that i have first 20sec of MPEG played horrible chopping and after that playing is OK. MPlayer, PowerDVD and WinDVD are all playing well...

I think it all has to do with the overlay part on a MPEG stream in th efirst seconds. When the playing is OK, i can see overlay without any problem.

I am not sure whether this is Web Admin related or not, but I get the following error after I (successfully on the first couple of attempts, then unsuccesfully) try to access GBPVR via the Webadmin (remotely), since the 97.07 update.

It says something about a JIT debugger ....

Well I will just reformat it again, and hope it works this time around. Maybe my Codec pack installed too many codecs. Weird thing is that the last version of GBPVR was working just fine with the same codec pack installed.

Too many codecs are just as bad as not enough. Start with adding no codecs and especially don't use the codec packs. Install only the codecs that you need one at a time checking between each install if the problem goes away.

I looked into the survival guide and other resources and there does not seem to be a definitive answer with regards to updating over the existing old GB-PVR install, or uninstalling GB-PVR and then doing a fresh install.

Which is preferable?

Usually upgrading is to be preferred, since you get to keep your recordings in the database (the actual mpg files are not deleted if you do a fresh install, but the references to them in the database are).

Just do a export of the current recordings - after fresh install import them again.

Yes, that would work, but would be an extra step. Easier to just upgrade.
